Default 992 throttle stiffness relative to 991.1 or 997.2?

I used to own a 997.2 manual C4S and recently rented a 991.1 PDK C4S on Turo. The 991.1 seemed to have a stiffer throttle vs. what I remember from my 997.2. I'm curious if anyone has a point of reference for either of these two vs. a 992? I found the throttle in the 991.1 disappointing. I don't think I'd want to live with it day in day out. Is the 992 "lighter" feeling?

I thought for sure I wanted another 911, but after this recent drive, my eyes are drifting toward the Lotus Emira. I know the maintenance and reliability would be more of a hassle, but I'm wondering if I need to simplify and add lightness to get the experience I (apparently) am looking for.

And before anyone feels compelled to point out that the 911 and Emira are within 200lbs of each other, the add lightness phrase was just a tongue in cheek joke. I don't think the weight is the actual factor here, is just how Porsche tuned the throttle vs. other cars.

The 992 is a turbo and the 997.2 and the 991.1 are both NA. Different animals with regard to throttle response as the turbo kicks in much sooner than the NA engine. Try a 992 before you decide.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by throttle stiffness. However, if by chance you're talking about throttle response, be aware that in order to meet regulations, care manufacturers, Porsche included, increasingly program the throttle for fuel economy, which makes them quite unresponsive. If this is what you're taking about, there are aftermarket throttle controllers that install in minutes, cost a couple of hundred bucks, and fix the issue.

Sounds to me like OP is asking about the actual mechanical resistance of the gas pedal, and not throttle response.

21 c4s here. Just picked mine up yesterday. Ours is definitely harder to push than our Audi’s pedal. I kinda like it more.

The throttle pedal assemblies in the 991.1 cars had a goofy dual spring arrangement that increased the required pedal pressure after tip-in. Very obtrusive, obnoxious, and completely pointless. I yanked one of the springs out. That was 10 years ago, and I haven't run into any busloads of nuns yet....

Ahh! I think you've hit on what I was feeling. Combine that with the throttle response described above and I think that sums it up. Good to know it can be changed.

Mmm, so even the 992 is stiff. Well, as long as there are mods like described then I guess won't matter. Or maybe I'd just get used to it. What model of Audi were you comparing it to?

No experience with other models but the stiffness of the pedal in the 992 S is perfection. Also the clutch is like butter, not heavy at all but feels great. I’ve never driven a car with better pedals and I can easily drive it as a daily in traffic etc
