Taillights: Red vs Tinted vs Clear
Hey guys
Wanted some thoughts. I've currently optioned my vehicle with clear taillights and brake light ("11") but not sure if that's the way to go. I feel the standard red really pops out while the clear is on the dull side. Perhaps I keep them read and "tint" them a shade darker.
What are your thoughts?
Any pictures with tinted taillights?
FYI - my exterior color is gentian blue.
Thanks!

I've debated this a lot on mine and decided to keep the red. I like the way the red pops out. But this may depend on your selected external color.
Go look at a bunch of GTS- they are all spec'd w/ clear taillights. Some prefer it. To me the red looks more aggressive. I also like pairing it with red brakes

Depends on what color your car is.

My new 992T is being built in Rubystar Neo... the fact that this is a purple/pinkish/reddish color, I for sure wanted to option the Exclusive clear lights because the Red on similar color would just not look right.
I think the red lights work on a lot of colors... for me the blacked out or clear exclusive lights are more of a must on Guards red, Rubystar, maybe even black and I think they look really nice on the chalk/arctic grey/ice grey cars.

I thought about the “clear” lights, but ultimately left them red. On my black C2S I think the red lights work better.

Yea black cars I think work either way for sure... not a must on a black car the same way it is for some of the others... ive seen black cars with both and its really just personal preference at that point

I didn't like clear tail lights on the 991 at all but I can't stand red tail lights on the 992 in any color - maybe the red tail light strip alone would be ok on some colors, but that ugly center brake light looks horrible in red on any color 992.

Really think it all comes down to the exterior color. On my previous 992 I had a gentian blue car, so the Red actually looked pretty nice and didnt seem out of place.

Clears were a must for me . I have them coming on my C2 about to go into production. Car is GT Silver and I love the monochromatic stealth look on the silver and gray hue cars. Something about the clear feels more aggressive to my eye. That said. I think one can go either way on most colors. More of a personal preference thing. As a member above noted, a color like Ruby Star can clash a bit with red.

Burning Brakes
IMO... it ABSOLUTELY depends on the exterior spec
Red tailights look best with neutral colors (black, silver, grey, white). Clear looks better with colorful cars so the red lights don't clash (greens, blues, yellows, etc.). I could see red going either way.
On mine, I tried to eliminate any red I could and tie in the silver.

I optioned the clear tails on my car because I was doing black brake calipers, but only did it because I knew that I would tint the rear reflectors to eliminate the red. I agree with you that they REALLY stand out when left stock with the clear tails. I probably could have even gone one step darker on the reflector tint.
