Default What is your "beater" - looking for recommendations

With my wife's job changing from remote to back to an office, she now has the Macan GTS with her everyday and I'm still remote, I'm left with my 992 GTS at home. Although it's not a garage queen, there are certainly times I don't want to take it out (maybe I just detailed it and it's raining next day, have to pick up something larger, need to take the dogs somewhere).

Looking for "beater" suggestions. Thinking something in the $10-$15k range. Lots of F30 BMW 3-series in this range. Whatcha got?

Love the GTI...had a 2016 that we traded for a previous car. Wish we hung onto it!

if you own a 911 you are required, by law, to have a Golf GTI or JEEP Wrangler as your backup. personally have a honda pilot. can carry kids, get through snow, and bring home OSB when needed.

Any Subaru, especially if you live in an area with bad weather. Euro "beater" cars are too expensive to maintain, every time you blink an eye its another $1000+ repair.

When I sold my 911, I had a M3 on order that was delayed. I ended up buying a 2014 Nissan Cube while I waited for my M3. I will never forgot my neighbors looking at me like, "what happened to your 911???" when I was driving the cube home. HaHa. No one paid me ANY mind on the streets. It was slow, but fun to drive. Great MPG. No one wanted to rev at me or race me. I was all by myself in my own little world when driving that thing. No one bothered me. It even had a 10" rockford fosgate sub from factory. It bumped! lol! It was fun to drive for the 4 months I owned it. I even put some 16" wheels on it. JDM y0! lol.

I miss that micro **** box!

That's very nice! Got my wheels turning on this option...

Lol - I plan on trading in our Jeep Wrangler 4XE for the 911. Kinda want to keep it though... need a bigger house to have multiple cars. We also have a 2020 Ram Longhorn that will stay no matter what though... I guess thats our "beater"

Mazda CX-5 - Zoom Zoom

I actually love it. I'm on the road a lot. Can't have something flashy. Get's good gas mileage and very comfortable. Would have preferred the CX-50 but I missed it.

I'd steer clear of the F30 4 cylinder. My BMW tech thinks its fatally flawed and likes the G20 engine better. How about a low miles E92 or E46 6sp coupe, with Mike Miller's (BMW CCA maintenance guru) "lifetime" maintained schedule (above and beyond BMW's with regular trans, diff, brake, coolant changes). My 328i coupe is a sweet drive with excellent handling, adequate performance, and at 12 years and 110,000 miles remarkably trouble free.
