2022 targa 4s for 2023 GTS
I took a targa last year given lack of options. I drove 2500 miles after 9 months. Dealer has an incoming GTS coupe that we can swap MSRP for MSRP. Although I would have paid tax and registration twice. Is this a good switch? I don’t think I have truly enjoyed the targa. I’m not tracking or going fast. Just enjoy a nice weekend drive. Both well optioned at around 169k. Or am I going to go through the trouble and appreciate not much change. Both with lots of leather and stitching. Targa has sports and premium package. Front lift and bumester. GTS has rear steering and premium and added leather. Thanks

Are you sure your state doesn’t offer a trade in tax credit?
Why don’t you think you enjoyed the targa? How often was the top open?

Targa is really an acquired taste.
Personally, I would not want one.
Sounds like you've experienced it and don't really get the Targa vibe. I would do the trade.

State of California doesn’t give credit. Not an open air person for sure. Had a 991 cab for less than a year. Weather is getting better and maybe I should put some miles on it and see. The car is color corrected, PPF and ceramic coated. Will try to enjoy it and there will always be another trade! At least that’s the conclusion tonight! Thanks

I never owned a Targa but drove my friends 4S on back roads and really did not enjoy it , biggest issue was wind buffeting noise

"I’m not tracking or going fast. Just enjoy a nice weekend drive" the targa 4S is perfect for that and does not feel different than the 4s coupe. What will be the point of the GTS ?I also think the targa may keep value better.

No tracking or fast driving-I would stay with the targa and the Burmester is a real plus if you enjoy music.

I wouldn’t do that deal…Targa has the prettiest silhouette of all 911 variants imho and never gets old. I get the comments of the buffeting but that car on a Sunday with top open and Burmeister playing is pretty special place to be . We will be trading ours for an incoming TTS mind you but that is a different beast/ quandry.

Proud owner of a Targa 4GTS for 6 months now - coming from a 992 4S Convertible.
Overall, enjoying the Targa more, the shape is unique, an icon. Personally I love driving roof down as long as it's sunny, even with 0 Celsius and the Targa is better for that if compared to the Convertible.
True, buffeting noise you have to live with (it can be reduced significantly in a few ways) but hey, perfection does not exist.

Generally two main things to do to reduce buffeting is:
- Make sure the windshield deflector is in the "up" position
- If you want the window up, crack the window down slightly from the closed position

I recently traded in my 2022 S Cab for a 2023 GTS Coupe. I was blown away by how much more I enjoyed the GTS Coupe over the cab. I wasn't initially inclined to do the trade until I test drove the GTS and realized it's a very different car. I love the Targa and have considered ordering one in the past, but I rarely put the top down in my cab and really prefer the Coupe with the glass sunroof.
The good news is you can't wrong whatever you do.
