I had a cashiers check made out to both the dealership and myself just in case things went sideways on delivery day. No way was I wiring the money until I saw the car that I had special ordered just for myself, waited so long to get and needed to make sure that there was no damage to it. I cannot even imagine getting your money back if you wired the money first and then the car arrived wrong, without some options that you ordered or had damage on it during shipping. I paid with for some incidentals (tags, doc fees etc) with my debit card.

I have written simple, personal checks on my checking account several times at the local dealer over the years, for sums about 92K, 140K and 114k. no problems, no questions asked. I live in the Midwest and am a known entity to this dealer by this time but again, they took my check for the first car too.

I assume this is a troll post to make it appear that you’re taking delivery of a 911. Because any adult that has ever purchased a vehicle, would know to just wire the money on any of the other six days of the week before delivery.
But anyhow, good video on certified check fraud scheme.

I have never had a problem taking delivery without having the funds transferred the same day, assuming your credit score is high enough.
Because if you renege on your payment (either b/c your wire didn't go through, or your check is bad, etc.) the dealership just converts the purchase into a lease.
But as others have said, you can simply wire the funds on a Friday, take delivery on Sunday. It's not like the Porsche dealership is going to vaporize between Friday and Sunday and run off with your money.

I usually just write the check in front of the finance guy and deal is done.
To pre-plan this is annoying and I have no idea what the total is going to be and I'm sure I can save more if I'm physically present asking for a discount on the add on options than to predetermine the # and wire in advance.

It’s not a pain at all. You can go to your bank and schedule the wire. Where I bank, for large wires, there is a two step approval process once the wire is requested. You can ask them to time it on the day of your choosing Mon-Fri. Obviously ensure you’ve done all the necessary due diligence on the car before sending the wire. You can place a CC deposit to hold the car contingent on X, Y, and Z. Once your requirements are confirmed send the wire.

Cashiers checks aren't what they once were all thanks to the scumbag counterfeiters. My Dealership won't take them any more....just once before I leave this world I'd like to get my hands on one of the lowlifes who ruin things for honest people. Especially one who targets senior citizens.
