Default Lowering a 992 GTS with CL Wheels

Hello Everyone, it's been a while. Before I get flamed, plenty of people are lowering or have lowered their Porsches so it's not too far fetched of an idea to want to lower my 992 GTS a tad bit. I haven't found anything online anywhere about compatibility, but I would like to use an adjustable kit like the KW HAS or H&R VVTF kit as I have PASM as standard and I don't want to lower it too much.

Given the GTS has the 992 Turbo helper springs in the rear and with the oem suspension setup being rated slightly different than the 992 S, does anyone know if there are any kits out there that would work or would the HAS kit for the Turbo/Turbo S work, in theory?

Thank you in advance!

@tourenwagen

Yes indeed on KW HAS (992 C2S kit as the Turbo kit springs were too short when we lined them up side to side)- I went with a minor initial drop or circa 17-18mm with the understanding that it would settle to around 20-21mm. I really can not discern the difference on the same roads I drive daily along with higher speed bends and sharp curves. My goal was not to the have the slammed look.

Thank you!! Looks sick! Love the shark blue! I had a 992 C2S and a C4S with the H&R springs. I think that might be a bit too low. I'll probably be going with the KW HAS kit for the adjustability.

Its worth the extra to get your height dialed on such a great car. I also (non empirically) think the KW spring rates are more conducive to undulations and work great with the 992 damper setup. I do have pdcc which makes the car taut but also pretty enduring.

The CL's do lack some offset aggression though:

Agreed! Placing my KW HAS order today, Thank you for the insight and pictures. Can't add spacers to CL wheels nor would I feel safe to, so to fix the offset issue I may explore some aftermarket wheels down the road...

This is the issue with CL.

You are more or less forced to get new wheels once lowering.

You can use the Bilstein EVO SE suspension. I put them in my car and the ride and drop is perfect.

My car in a turbo with 5 lug but the same suspension will fit in your car as well. It's surprising how aggressive the stance is on my car with the Bilstein set up. They really got everything right on this kit. I am using a 325/30-21 on the back and a 265/35-20 on the front with a 14mm and a 7mm spacer.

The front lift allows me to clear every driveway easily still.

I just took out a set of Height Adjustable Springs from a customers car to replace them with the Bilsteins. It is a night and day difference in ride quality between the two.

It comes with shocks as well in this kit. The rear shock in the FAL version is a fully threaded shock body. They also install using your factory electronics. It is a plug and play fit because Bilstein is also OE supplier for the 992.

It isn't that spacers aren't "allowed" on center lock rims, it's just that nobody makes them and I highly doubt anybody can make spacers for cars w/ center lock hubs/rims. It's just a totaly different concept than typical 5 bolt rims. With 5 bolt rims, spacers are super easy because you simply get spacers and longer bolts and you can add spacers to your car. On a center lock hub and rim, there is simply no way to easily space out the rim. You'd have to basically have four center lock hubs made to order that pushes out the rim by the distance you want, i.e. +10mm or +15mm. I've not seen anybody that sells anything like this and I imagine it would be very expensive to do.

Alternatively, on some older Porsches with centerlock hubs/rims people have been able to push out the centerlock hub by installing adjustable upper and lower arms that moves the centerlock hub outwards by 15mm or 20mm. Not sure if something similar exists for a 992 GTS yet.

Bottom line is, if you want to lower your GTS and not have the sunken in rim/tire look, you will need to get aftermarket rims with a better offset that pushes the rims out to fill up the wheel well, or get 5 bolt standard rims that can take spacers and add spacers.

Did Techart HAS on wife’s car - no complaints- have FAL on it (helper springs) no issue. With that said, had the EVO been readily available in spring of 2021, would have gone that way for sure. Now my HAS springs are coming off (today in fact) because I am preparing to CPO the car for my TTS which should arrive in spring. Added 10mm spacers all around incidentally.
