I picked the best dealer I had access to. Reminded a little bit of the song by Talking heads, when you mentioned that I did not deserve the allocation. I agree, I made a lot of mistakes, thinking that it would be a simple transaction.

And you may find yourself behind the wheel of a large automobile
And you may find yourself in a beautiful house, with a beautiful wife
And you may ask yourself, "Well, how did I get here?"

Dealers are too greedy and stupid to understand they are feeding the case for direct sales. The state franchising laws that protect car dealers are ancient and archaic. So far Tesla is one of the few big enough to fight and win.

I had spoken a Penske dealer once and he had mentioned 20K with 'mandatory crap`.
My number was closer to 15K all-in and I was willing to walk away even for 1K. I was pissed enough to question Documentation fee.

Once ordered by dealer nothing PCNA can do as they pass ownership and not willing to discipline dealers……..that simple………I would pressure GM or just refuse car…….buy a CPO from another dealer as market is getting softer……also maybe softer market gets dealer to drop all extras…..

This is what I really wish was true my friend. It is very discouraging to not be able to rely on NA to help check some of these dealers and help fix some of the bull**** you have to go thru to get a new 911. Having said that, I have found NA to be extremely helpful if you have a service related matter (the same dealer I was working with had my 997 for over a month to replace an alternator and I also asked them to replace the MT transmission fluid -- picked it up a month or so later only to wake up the next morning to a puddle of trans fluid in my garage). I made a call to NA and the dealer immediately called and asked what they could do to help. It took the dealer three times to get it right but they did, eventually. So NA is there for some things but this market matter, it is what it is. Will it "soften?" Until NA can produce or even meet the 911 demand so buyers have more options, it is unlikely.

So what I'm getting from all this is Porsche dealers business practices border on fraud, PCNA can't or won't do anything about it, and buyers continue to bend over and take it because the cars are so out of this world special and bathed in unicorn dust. So remind me, what was the point of this thread? And are there no honest dealers? I'm 68, bought my first new Porsche in 1980, and here's what I know: The day will come when demand for these toys dries up and dealers will be kissing *** to make deals. Until then, and it won't be long, show some patience.

These guys hold the cards, and quite frankly probably didn’t like your “end around” getting the allocation yourself.

On the Cadillac Blackwing forum I am a member of there is a sticky for dealerships that don't charge ADM on Blackwings. Surprised something like that doesn't exist here.

I think you mean 'end run'.

Also, who cares. By the time OP needs a new car most of these shenanigans may have been dispensed with.

i was talking to a very nice NA customer service rep yesterday and unfortunately you can't go thru PCNA to order a car directly. they could do some things to assist in the replacment of some cars in certain situations that were damaged pre-covid but i guess even that has since changed. i was told every 911 no matter what gets off the boat. the NA rep did tell me some of the production issue bottlenecks (wiring harness, chips, etc.) have been or are currently in process of being moved to more "friendly" production areas. and assuming there aren't any more boats that crash and burn (i mean ... really, wtf?) i am hopeful production will increase, which will help all of us. but i suspect we are still ages away from Porsche getting caught up on 911s but i do hope i am wrong. personally, i am worried about the 911 platform changing so i want to secure a 992 before it morphs into something i don't want to drive.

There was a time a few years ago that PCNA definitely had control over dealerships.
If a dealer added a huge markup on certain cars, PCNA would threaten them with holding their next delivery of new cars. This was at a time when everything wasn't already allocated and long waiting lists.
Perfect example of anything goes......

Tesla has educated companies on how to run a real zero BS car business, if you think Porsche is happy with the dealer networks you are wrong. People need to speak up and name names , so Porsche is left with no excuses but to sell direct or stop allocating to bad dealers. They will have to anyways when they go full electric as service is not needed anymore , might as well start now

I just did a spittake on that one. Tesla is literally a BS car business from how they de-content their cars without telling anyone, engage in practices of freefall depreciation, and their utterly mediocre and dangerous service experience. I work with two Porsche dealers and love them both equally. I certainly wouldn't trade that experience for a cup of Elon Kool Aid.
