2021+ are affected. Only 2020s had 0 issues.

I run the FabSpeed Sport Cats and their Valvetronic Maxflo exhaust on my 2021 992 C2S. It’s advertised that this setup won’t produce a CEL. However, it comes on about every 1.5 months, stays on for about 4 days then goes away,

I find it a little strange that vendors claim no CEL when its clear that this isnt the case. So it looks like 2022 and 2023 models have a decent chance of CEL. Is there a sport cat that guarantees no CEL?

Europipe doesn’t CEL but that’s apparently only for Euro cars, not US market.

Anyone feel free to correct any errors.
I have John’s new cats with no CEL for 1800 miles on a 2023. On my 2021 I had his old cats and used a spacer. New ones are awesome.

Well, you are in TX. I think before we can claim victory, we need a Canadian person try these out in winter there and report back.

Good Morning Everyone,

Id like to jump in briefly to provide an update on the sport cat topic for 992s, I know I touched on it in a few posts earlier in the thread but here’s the latest and greatest. We’ve been working for years on developing an equivalent or better cat core to the HJS HD with a wash coat containing essentially four times the precious metal content to scrub within the tightened factory emissions tolerances on 2021+ cars. On well over a dozen cars in that range we are now CEL free without software or spacers, and we are now happy to guarantee that moving forwards. On vehicles equipped with HJS HD cat cores that switched to the new design the CEL went off by itself on the first drive cycle and did not come back. They’ve been tested over 1000hp, have had the crap beat out of them on track, dynoed on a 992 within the same numbers as HJS and measured within .5db louder valves open as well. To say we’re excited is an understatement as this has been a massive undertaking and time soak. We will still use HJS across our product lines for now as we continue testing product to product and model to model, though for the 992 Carrera/Turbo specifically we will begin fulfilling new orders with these. We still have inventory of HJS equipped high flow cats for 992s that will be tuned anyway, the new cats or full systems using them will be built to order for the time being within a 2-3 week lead time with little exception. We are currently all hands on deck with the new GT4RS product development and releases, as soon as we are done with that project we will update the website product pages accordingly for the 992 Carrera/Turbo platform.

Thank you all for your patience and support, it does not go unnoticed. As always, please feel free to give me a call any time any day to chat cars at 4848836197 or shoot me an email directly at johng@soulpp.com.

Regards,
John Gaydos

^^ What John said! We have sold a good amount of 2022-2023 992 with the new sport cats and no reports of CEL!

Is the price of the CAT high because of this? I see Soul CATs have the highest pricing in market

That would makes sense given the R&D they’ve invested.

Yes, and the cost difference comes down to the amount of precious metal content in the washcoat which scrubs the exhaust and keeps the CEL off. The PGM (platinum group metals) loading on these cats are approximately 4x the amount of the HJD HD cat in the same size. Trust me, we cried inside when we saw the costs of the washcoat ourselves and we tried many levels up until what we are at just to try and keep the costs down for everyone.

Are the older versions cheaper? I’m getting a tune and don’t care about the potential cel issue!

What happens when you tune the car and disable the catalyst monitors and then 2,3, or 4 years (depending on where you live) is up and you need to get the car to go through a state emission check? Do these tunes disable the monitors OR do they modify the parameters at which the test works with to get the test to pass? I think modifying the parameters would be highly illegal so I doubt that.

Is it simply that people either live in Florida or wherever there is no emission check OR they never keep the car that long so this is a non issue?

Hi John any interest in a group buy with the no CEL cats like the recent (successful) JCR group buy?

im sure a number of the folks who bought a JCR exhaust would be interested in your CEL free cats so you can probably strike while the iron is hot, so to speak
