Pay off 90-95% of the loan soon after origination and you can slowly pay the remaining balance over however many months they want you to keep the loan open. Usually 3-6 months. This way you have minimal interest accrued.

Are you overseas because stateside I've never seen a NFCU, even an ATM on base besides Great Lakes. It's always some local credit union.

NFCUs are mostly on military bases. You either need to be a veteran or the relative of a veteran to join, check their website. Their ATM card is taken in many other credit unions however, but I had to go to the merchant marine academy on long island to join - very nice people working there. My father was in the Navy.

There's a NFCU Branch in Allen Texas. The only one I've ever seen.

I disagree, most are not "on" base. Usually they are very close to a base but stateside all the ones I've seen are outside the gate. Normally close enough for the junior enlisted to walk over and get a personal loan lol, or I guess now you just do it on your phone. I'm just thinking Hawaii, San Diego and Little Creek area you had to go off base.

Kings Point location? I've never been there because I thought I needed a government ID to access it. You went there with no issues?

Yes, just tell the guard at the gate why you want to enter the academy grounds and have your driver's license. The credit union is in the basement of the Jones Building.

Just wondering if anyone recently financed from PFS or any other financial institution? What’s the lowest APR you got?

Thanks

PFS is always the highest. No chance I'd use them for finances.

Just did NFCU for 4.99% for 60 months. I didn't quite grasp all the mechanics of how they send you the "check" - it's actually a blank check that they send you, that you fill out to the dealer. The dealer then confirms its validity and limit with NFCU, and I imagine they EFT the funds to the dealership. Then they send you your loan paperwork and monthly payment amount for whatever amount you filled in (up to the maximum of the pre-approval amount).
