My understanding is they have more sound deadening but I may be wrong; I haven't driven one for a couple of years.

I would love to see someone actually show data to support the noise insulated glass commentary. I actually have it on my 992S but I have nothing to compare it to since I haven't driven another similarly equipped 992 back to back. Something tells me that I wouldn't be able to tell the difference!

It does but not enough to bother me, was wondering how the T was in comparison. I spoke to my tech in service today about it and he said the 2019's he has driven were not bad at al and to go for a T.

if the t is anything like the gts, then it will have diaphrams in the rear wheel archs to promote a more racey sound, which some people love.
but its just tyre roar,a horrible white noise that gets worse the faster you go or the quality of the roads your on,
and the db level will depending on what make of tyre you have too.
closing them off gives a 2.8db noise reduction,so much so that you can now hear the flat 6 burble, and the sports exhaust on the over run.
also front tyre noise can be heard now so that might need a bit of a look at
with them closed off, makes the car a much more enjoyable place to be imho

The lightweight glass on the T is also the sound deadening glass. Same as the GT3. It's got multiple layers sandwiched together. Some of those layers are designed to reduce road noise, yet allow engine noise in (probably since much of engine noise doesn't come in from the door glass). Porsche has info on this on their web site somewhere.

Curious myself too how the lightweight glass owners feel about road noise. For most accounts I've read on here, it definitely removes that "bad" noise and let's the good noise come in from the back.

This is the best I've found in that regard....

Actual experience with noise difference?
Now that people have had experience with the T compared to the standard Carrera, has anyone formed a realistic opinion on noise differential? There are cheap noise level meters which would be interesting to deploy. Subjectively, noise bothers folks differently. I’m old and find many restaurants way too noisy to even carry on a conversation. The noise discourages me from going to those restaurants even if the food is excellent. A Porsche with loud interior noise may be similar. Enjoying the rest of the experience but having problems with the noise.
there is a difference between the 911 engine and exhaust noise during acceleration and the potential droning noise that could become tiresome and annoying. I have a T on order and am looking forward to getting my hands on my third 911, but I’m a bit concerned.
