I did the DIY thing and installed Gutter Guard cylinders using the instructions BOPE posted last November. Four cylinders per side. Secure fit, no drilling or clips, easy to remove for cleaning, black color blends into the louvre grills, no noticeable change in airflow or temp readings. The cylinders provide a double wall of protection and should absorb some of the impact from rocks and larger debris. All for about $10 USD and 20 minutes work.

I have a question about debris collection. I'm currently running without the mesh grills and we all know that this area collects a butt load of debris (leaves, stones etc). How much less debris does it collect with the mesh grills installed?

Without the mesh, I can easily just reach in with my hands and clean out the debris. It seem to be much harder to clean this area out with the mesh in place. Will the mesh prevent a majority of debris from collecting, so much so that cleaning this area out isn't really commonplace?

I use my yard blower and it seems to work really nicely at clearing any leaves/debris from the area.

MAN those look nice. This has just about got me motivated to spec the Sport Design fascia for the front...BTW...LOVE F-8s (the Gilchrist book is GREAT)...even though I'm retired AF (non-rated).

No active radiator closures with SD fascia-I ordered it anyway.

I really appreciate mine. Took about 20 min to install both sides.

Where they really come in handy is in areas of the country where the leaves drop in the Fall/Winter. Before I installed, went through one season without any grills….I didn’t check the grill area for months of driving, and when I finally did, I noticed that both radiators were almost completely blocked by leaves. Now, no more leave collecting in front of the radiators.

Great look and very practical use. However don’t be surprised when you see leaves behind the mesh next fall. There’s an opening in the center that will allow leaves for fly in.

I did the gutter guard DYI and I’m like meh, on the fence to see how they’ll stay in place after a couple of spirited drives.

Yep, I had one. Got the car vacuum out and suctioned it out…..

I was more concerned with getting a lot of leaves blocking the flow of air to the radiators. The grills have basically eliminated that concern.

$300 for wire mesh is a lot cheaper than a replacement a/c condenser.

ask me how i know.

Anyone with feedback using the rennline grills? It’s more work from what I read, since you have to remove the bumper and install the grills from behind. IMO they look better, though I have these on my 997.

Will adding these or other grills like rennline still allow the adaptive flaps to open and close for those of us that do not have the sports bumper?

Here are the rennline grills for reference: https://www.rennline.com/rennline-ra...ens-sku-e1006/

Completed a 100+ mile spirited drive with the local Porsche Club last weekend. Road conditions were not great (lots of rain and flooding resulting in potholes and road debris), plenty of bumps, etc. Mesh cylinders held up fine.
