I am on waitlists at the three Porsche dealerships in my area for a year now. I’ve already lost an allocation and a Targa GTS. Seems I’m about to lose this one because I don’t want to get shafted.

Do you have any better ideas than “shop around” or “keep waiting”?
Unfortunately no. The means to buy/sell cars is what it is. It’s all about shopping around to get the best deal. It’s not that bad of a proposition to be “stuck” with your base. It’s plenty car.

Do note that it costs them a few thousand to sell the car as certified since it adds 2 years of warranty and then they wanna try to make money on it too.
Thank you. This is the first sensible answer I read. Greatly appreciated.

So, in your view, $7,500 ADM for the C2S and $19k below MSRP for my C2, is a good deal?

I’m considering this as well. Nevertheless, I can’t stop thinking that I may end up waiting, and the delta might still be the same a year down the road. MSRP will also go up in July.

Ask to take the S without the trade? You can surely do better just taking it to carmax. May be sales tax implications to that depending on where you live. Have you shopped carmax, webuyanycar? Asked dealer about consignment?

Not worth it if it was me. That's a $20K difference considering the full PPF. Getting a tune would put the C2 at or above C2S power, unless there's something missing from the C2 that you must have in the C2S. I'd like to know.

It pains me to say yes, but in the current market, yes. It’s the same as if they said $15k ADM on S order (seems to be the average ADM for S in SoCal) but only $11.5k below MSRP for your S. That’s really not a crazy deal for THIS current market.

Missing: Leather seats and dashboard. Deviated stitching. Torque vectoring. And yes, bigger turbos for more power with an M Engineering tune.

I didn’t build this car. It was at port when I passed by the dealership March of last year. They said “get this while you wait for your allocation. You won’t lose much in your trade”… 😥

On the last allocation (which I lost) I tried the CarMax route. The Porsche dealership priced the trade-in right at the level where the lost tax advantage would put the CarMax deal at a disadvantage. Also tried Givemethevin (probably similar to “webuyanycar”). Same deal as CarMax.

Please tell me more about consignment though.

Thanks @SS22. Much appreciated. I’m going to the dealership on Friday. I’ll report back on what deal I’m able to negotiate in the end.

If my hot head doesn’t end-up making me stand-up and leave as I’ve done in the past…😅

Dealer sells call for you. You give them your bottom dollar, they sell the car sometimes for a pre negotiated fee, sometime they take a percentage. Depends on what you negotiate.

Thanks @22992. I’ll ask about that.

Godspeed! Just remember new 2023 pricing will probably increase 5-6% and at some point for MY 2024, it’s very possible we see .2 (which you may or may not like better but it’ll likely have a negative impact on .1 prices).

My dealer does it by charging you the fee to make it certified and deducting 5% off whatever price they sell the car (they let you have a say in what price they list the car too).

The used price is probably in the right ballpark because they have to make money on the resale. Tell them to pound sand on the ADM and they have a deal.

Thanks again @SS22, very helpful advice. Honestly, the impending release of the 992.2 also worries me. What if it’s better? But what if it’s worse? Heavier hybrid, or the other thing mentioned in this forum (which I honestly can’t remember). I’m sure whatever facelift they do will be awesome though.

As far as what could be worse, from what I’ve gathered, some people may not like the hybrid, they might mess with the exhaust tips (might look weird) and maybe some other cosmetic things that are highly subjective, and they might make the instrument cluster fully digital which some people also don’t like. I’m not sure how else it could be worse. On the flip side, mild hybrid could mean more power/torque (although I imagine this will be an option on higher trims) and the cosmetic changes could be subjectively welcomed. I don’t think other than mild hybrid on some higher trims, we’ll see anything earth shattering but who knows.
