Default Charging kids iPads help

I use my car with my kids regularly and we do a regular one hour drive back and forth. We commonly charge their iPads in the car and thus I plug them both into the center arm rest. The issue is that it will continue to try to connect to their audio and drop mine. I can’t figure out how to tell the pcm to ignore these devices. They are not listed under device, but just in the media tab. Anyone figured this out?

Simplest solution is to get a USB plug to go into the 12v socket in the passenger footwell and just run the charging cable to the back along the center console tunnel.

Didn’t know there was one down there. I’ll look for it. Thanks

A bit of work, but not all that difficult, I installed two Twin USB Power Outlets on either side of my console.
They're only powered when the Ignition is on.
Be sure to get 4.8 Amp (2.4 + 2.4) dual USB units and use wiring sized for that sort of a load.

Can’t you just disable CarPlay on the iPads?

12v socket with USB adapter seems to be the easiest solution.

I don’t think in the OP’s case, the car is trying to start CarPlay using the iPad. I think it just sees it as another input and preferentially using that. Not sure how to get that to change. Which is why the 12v socket…..

Just use a USB charge only adapter.
