Spec'ing my 23' 992 GTS 4 Targa

The Targa is EXPENSIVE base car, plus it's heavy and a tad slow! It can be hard to move the allocation. Without a doubt the Targa is super cool. Don't want one and it's a heavy car designed for a specific buyer. Can't select an Aerokit so I'm out! Put the build in and let us know when it goes V200. If it goes V200 jackpot! If it sits V150/V170 gig is up. V200 the build is accepted and a time is loosely built. The Targa is a low production 911 and has one of the best resale values. But! It's not for everyone. Call the sales manager and ask him to look at the status of the build? Plus you should received the "Welcome" email with track your dream info. A little secret don't trust car dealers!

Sorry I forgot, IF you have an allocation for a PTS C4 GTS? You have now hit GT3 base price and YES it's a hard unit to sell. Why? Better return on the GT3!

Not totally true. Look at the 991 GTS Targa prices, they're doing fine. GTS Targa is the highest performance of that body style and with limited allocations (esp PTS), should be relatively price isolated if spec'd correctly. That does not mean they're not expensive (encroaching on GT3 territory for sure)

Yes its not cheap but I've had two 991.2 manual GT3s and they are also slow. I have fast cars as well as a race car for that type of driving. This is a cruiser and something my wife can drive if she chooses plus I really like the looks of these cars.

Just had a call from my Sales Manager and I asked about the PTS option. Normally you can add the option then it's slotted for a build but that's not the case now. He claims as of today PTS is stopped. You can build it Porsche will not accept the order, it will sit pending. My point about the Targa is valid and then toss the GTS price tag and I can think of better 911's to build. I'd want a discount if I purchased or received an allocation. I've passed when offered Targa builds. I always get the Aerokit so it's a no go. FYI the rare 911 is the straight Turbo non S. White whales. Anyone own one??

I guess you fail to realize that not everyone shares your opinion. GT3 is a great car and as I said I've had 2 but it's a wannabe race car. GT3 does nothing for me, been there done that.

Wow this thread seems to have gone way off track and is now almost a peeing contest instead.
Back to the topic - have you confirmed you at least have a PTS allocation?

My intent for this thread was to ask opinions on my spec not whether or not the price of a Targa is worth it vs. a GT3.

I get why the Targa is a no go for you since you want the aerokit, but it is no more expensive than the Cab and about 1% heavier. So, if you are not interested in a Targa because of cost or weight, I struggle to understand that.

Drew it's because no Aerokit. I was offered a GTS Targa when I received my current build. I think the Targa is a cool car but not for me. I would take the targa build and asked for turbo or GT allocation at the time of the deal. Let us know when the car goes V200. Good luck with the order.

Has the build gone V200? What's the dealership saying??

Have you received the welcome email from Porsche? The lock date has nothing to due with V200. The lock is for the final build spec. My friend this doesn't add up! If the dealership has an allocation you make your selections, the dealership loads the info with your selections and personal information. This generates the welcome email. If you have an item that "stop sale" the car Porsche will send you an email to contact the dealership. The TYD app will show blanks where dates fill. If your build sits V150 then it's nothing more than a pending order. My order last year loaded then was kicked because of stop sale issues. Back to V150! I could be wrong but it looks like a dealership trying to build an order book. Porsche looks to see if a car is sold when allocations go out. The district sales manager has a lot of control. Ask why would a dealer do this? Because the only way to get more cars is sell more cars. Sell a lot of Macans and you get more 911's. Keep us posted! Good luck!
