Default Turn signal light: clear vs. orange

What determines if the front turn signal light comes clear vs. orange?

Orange reflector is required by US Law on all cars. But most people swap them to clear after or at delivery (which is how cars come in Europe).

Does seem when lit it turns orange. But the baseline color varies quite widely even for US cars.
Scrolling through the GTS and the "pic pic pics" post many have the clear lights which look nice. A few people have the orange reflector which looks mad cheap

Every US car with clear reflector was changed after purchase. It’s just a very popular mod.

Interesting. This is done privately like you take the car to a shop? Or is it so popular the dealer will offer to swap it and you do it on the day of taking delivery?

So when this guy takes delivery in LA - his car has the very nice clear lights. You're saying he pre-arranged to have the clear reflectors changed?

Literally 2 minute job each side to swap.

My Sales Associate changed out the signal lights on my behalf before my car left the showroom.

Some even throw them in as part of the deal. I’ve never heard of anyone failing inspection from it. I have clear tails and orange really doesn’t match the color of my car so switched to clears. I always do if I can.

use painters tape to pull the light straight back and out. Could not be easier.

Small thing, big visual impact.

Yes I agree the default orange light looks like one from my childhood bike.
