Default Sport Cats Installation

Did some searching but couldn't find a clear answer. To those who DIYed the sport cat installation, did you use a lift/quickjack? ramps? just jack stands?

I have jackstands and could get ramps (though I'm running out of garage space to store things ), but picking up a quickjack for this doesn't seem worthwhile so if I need a lift I'll just find a shop to install them. If ramps are reasonable, any specific units you'd recommend for getting the 911 up without any incidents?

I just replaced my exhaust and had to remove the cats to do so...I would not want to do that on stands or small ramps. Technically, probably possible but would be a nightmare to get to the parts, hold things in place, align etc.

I did it with ramps. Plenty of space to get to the cats. Very easy job.

I've had my sport cats on and off quite a few times in my garage using ramps.
It's a safe, simple one-man job, using basic tools.
Takes all of 30 minutes.... with some practice!

Lots of clearance.

Stock catalytic.

Soul 200 cell sport cats.

First time taking them off takes a little longer due to bolt on the v clam on the turbo side.

Removing after you have done that takes 15 mins per side

This. Spray some WD on the bolts. Use a pair of vice grips, small socket, etc. turn the bolt from the bottom and then should be able to thread it out by hand. When reinstalling flip the vband around and put bolt in from the bottom. The next time it will take you longer to put the car on ramps then to swap the cats.

You didn't install the copper washers between the cat and o2 sensor?

Those spacers are there if your car throws a CEL. It’s hit or miss if the spacers even work. Or just tune the car and no need for the spacers and you will not ever get a CEL.

I tried it every way possible to eliminate the O2 sensor CEL. With washers, with spacers and without. Even tried a "new and improved" set of Sport cats using a different catalytic insert from the standard HJS inserts.
Though I did get pretty handy at R n' R ing the cats.

Exactly true, nothing I have tried to date has made a difference on "my car" throwing random O2 sensor CELs.

At the end of the day, aside from slightly annoying, it's really not a big deal.

I have a 22 and it threw codes before even leaving the neighborhood. Spacers or not. I wasn’t really worried about it since I do have the MTune. It did however require the guys at M engineering to send me a new file to eliminate the CEL.

I wasn't referring to the spacers. I was referring to the copper washers.

Just bought a used set of cats and didn't receive the hardware. Does anyone have the sizing of the copper washer? Or part number for the O2 sensor, so I can buy one that fits...? This is just a copper crush washer, right, nothing special about it?
