Hello all, as I previously posted in another thread but didn't really get much feedback so thought I'll make it a bit more straightforward, as I have to finalize the build by Monday morning. I previously decided on Chalk, now I am strongly considering Ice Grey Metallic for my base 992. What are your thoughts on this exterior color? Is it similar to the previous Dolomite Silver? Because from the config pics they look silver but not sure if in reality it is that color. Also how do you think it will go with the Black and Bordeaux interior?
Switch back and forth between Ice Grey and GT Silver on the configurator. The change in color is very subtle. Personally, I would not pay almost $3,000 more for this color. Most people won’t be able to tell the difference and think it’s GT Silver. If you like silver, go with the iconic GT Silver. Black and Bordeaux will look good.
I went with Ice Gray Metallic on my 2023 C4S which is due in November. Then went a little crazy with the Heritage Interior in Cognac & Houndstooth. There is an entire Taycan forum dedicated to this color called Ice Gray Taycan Club with dozens of great pics in different lighting. The attached pic was pulled from that site, I used this when selecting this color. Cheers….

How about a link (which are ALWAYS handy and time-saving)? I can't find that thread, and I'm considering that color instead of GT Silver..
We were looking at samples of Ice Grey Metallic to take the place of Dolomite Silver since it was discontinued. To me, it is definitely more grey than silver. Not close to Dolomite or GT.
Whatever you do, I wouldn’t spec a color without seeing it in person first. Once you do that, the decision is usually easy. If you can’t see it in person first, go with what you’ve seen and like best.
This color reminds me of Audi Suzuka Grey. I was going to order an R8 in this color once. Then saw one on the road. Glad I passed (on both the color and the R8). But to each their own.
I posted in the other 992 Ice grey thread, but literally was in this exact same position as the OP - here's to hoping they took a leap of faith like me and picked Ice Grey Met. I'm SO happy I did. I was 90% sure I was going with Chalk (10% Shark Blue) up until, after nearly a year of waiting, I got the call that someone had dropped out of line and thus it was not only my turn to spec my 992 GTS, but since they dropped out so late in the game, my spec was due tomorrow. To add a layer of stress, Ice Grey was a brand new option as of about a week before that, unbeknownst to me, and there were 0 pictures of any 911s with Ice Grey (only Taycan's which wasn't as helpful or insightful as I had assumed it would be or hoped), aside from the new GT3RS and a few initial YouTube interviews of that car (which was my inspiration for my spec).
I have to disagree with earlier posts, this color DOES look like a silver in the configurator, but that is NOT the case in person. To me, its almost as if Pearl White and Chalk had a (metallic) baby. In person, there's so much nuance in the color based on the light, it's just gorgeous.
I saw a video of my car a couple days before I picked it up and I was filled with anxiety that I had made a terrible choice - but not the case at all. Actually, its that Ice Grey doesn't photograph well, or at least pictures and videos don't do the color justice! To each their own, but I'm so happy I chose Ice Grey. I still love Chalk, but this color (again personal preference) is so much more than I could have hoped for, in person.

My favorite pic with a legend
does it have a blue undertone like dolomite silver did ? Beautiful car!

I’ve heard others say that but personally, no, I don’t see blue undertones. I do see a very light pearlescent quality to the paint in direct light though. Thanks for the kind words! My first Porsche and first new car, I’m ecstatic with how it came out.
