We were dead set on Dolomite Silver but the allocation did not come through until 2023 and it was discontinued. The next thought was Ice Grey Metallic. To me it is nothing like Dolomite. Ice Grey is definitely light grey, not silver or blue silver. I read somewhere that said it was metallic chalk and I agree. We went Jet Black Metallic instead, what a change in direction.
As stated in another thread, I stumbled today into an allocation for a T, sent the SA my Build in GT Silver and he's already responded with a Commission number, with Build Sheet to follow later today. I *may* change the color to Ice Grey, we'll see.
Ice Gray is not close to GT Silver or Dolomite Silver. At a distance it looks most like chalk, up close it is not so much like chalk. It is a cool color and someone above described it best as a cross between Carrera Metallic White and Chalk. Definitley something to see in person before deciding. To my eye in the direct evening sun it had a fair bit of very subtle gold metalic. I like it a lot but, went GT silver for a 992.
18598492[/url]]I’ve heard others say that but personally, no, I don’t see blue undertones. I do see a very light pearlescent quality to the paint in direct light though. Thanks for the kind words! My first Porsche and first new car, I’m ecstatic with how it came out.
interesting take from an owner. I saw the color live and like the color but to me had light blue undertones.
Switch back and forth between Ice Grey and GT Silver on the configurator. The change in color is very subtle. Personally, I would not pay almost $3,000 more for this color. Most people won’t be able to tell the difference and think it’s GT Silver. If you like silver, go with the iconic GT Silver. Black and Bordeaux will look good.
the configurator couldn’t be further from how it is in person.
I don't care what I thought in the past about Ice grey... It definitely looks the part on a 992 GTS and looks a hell of a lot better on it than the typical Taycans you see this color. It's like Carrara white, but more like a pearl white. Carrara white just doesn't have enough metallic in it. Think of this as the "pearl white" option.
I posted in the other 992 Ice grey thread, but literally was in this exact same position as the OP - here's to hoping they took a leap of faith like me and picked Ice Grey Met. I'm SO happy I did. I was 90% sure I was going with Chalk (10% Shark Blue) up until, after nearly a year of waiting, I got the call that someone had dropped out of line and thus it was not only my turn to spec my 992 GTS, but since they dropped out so late in the game, my spec was due tomorrow. To add a layer of stress, Ice Grey was a brand new option as of about a week before that, unbeknownst to me, and there were 0 pictures of any 911s with Ice Grey (only Taycan's which wasn't as helpful or insightful as I had assumed it would be or hoped), aside from the new GT3RS and a few initial YouTube interviews of that car (which was my inspiration for my spec).
I have to disagree with earlier posts, this color DOES look like a silver in the configurator, but that is NOT the case in person. To me, its almost as if Pearl White and Chalk had a (metallic) baby. In person, there's so much nuance in the color based on the light, it's just gorgeous.
I saw a video of my car a couple days before I picked it up and I was filled with anxiety that I had made a terrible choice - but not the case at all. Actually, its that Ice Grey doesn't photograph well, or at least pictures and videos don't do the color justice! To each their own, but I'm so happy I chose Ice Grey. I still love Chalk, but this color (again personal preference) is so much more than I could have hoped for, in person.
My favorite pic with a legend
Pearl is a good way to name it. And it’s beautiful
