Canadian Buyers: Luxury Tax

no LT Thank God!
It MUST be the same car from your signed bill of sale, BEFORE 2022.
The car can’t be changed.
good luck!

I recently placed an order of C4 GTS, which is 210k before tax, and the tax costs around 75k. It's insane that the tax rate is 36.5%, even makes me wanna cancel the order.
After I learned more, i found out that it is tax on tax, GST is applied on pre-tax price + Luxury tax(10%) + PST(20%)...
This tax has made me want to move to Alberta.
After NDP came up, they just made Vancouver unlivable.

Is your C4 GTS super loaded with options?
my 2022 Targa4GTS was $210k plus taxes
and yes Luxury tax is such a scam, tax on tax, and you get luxury tax on items like extended warranty as well.
insane

My options are around 38k since the SA told me that I have to get options above $35500 to get an allocation next year.

You should have shopped around.
And/or found a way to buy and register in Alberta.
I was fortunate enough to avoid the luxury tax. Just barely.

I can understand why you're worried about the delivery date of your car and whether or not you'll have to pay the tax. It sounds like it's going to be a close call, but hopefully, you'll be able to get your car before September 1st when the tax comes into effect.

You will 100% have to pay the luxury tax. I have a 992 coming this spring and I had to sign an additional disclosure with the dealer acknowledging the tax. My order was put in last August for the record.

Sadly you are mistaken- I wish you were right:
‘The luxury tax will not apply to the sale of a subject vehicle priced above the price threshold where a purchaser and a vendor have entered into a written agreement for the sale of the subject vehicle before 2022 in the course of the vendor’s business of selling subject vehicles.’

I am pissed off about this tax. It was done purely for political reasons because the government knows the disparity between the rich and poor is growing, and they know where the votes are. However, on my Carrera T order, with the tax included (14K) , the car was still cheaper than the same one specced in the US (with dollar conversion). So Porsche is probably smart in that they price the cars in individual markets to what those markets can afford while factoring in the number of sales to stay profitable.

Does anyone know if you have to have the exact same options as that original order? Or can you add some and still avoid the tax?
