Default Wireless Apple CarPlay Issues

I've recently experienced connectivity issues with wireless carplay in my 2022 GTS (iPhone 13 pro). It flat out refuses to connect. It worked for the first 500 miles or so but since then it won't connect. I've done a hard reset on the PCM, hard reset on my phone, and all software is up to date. It sometimes works with a wired connection, but even then it's spotty.

Has anyone else had any issues, or found solutions? Am I missing some crazy subscription service (dealer says I'm not)?

Did you try to disable CarPlay and then re-enable? Click on the phone icon on the top right of the screen and turn off CarPlay if you haven't already tried that. Sometime for me it will just sit there and try to connect... I just disable it and re-enable when I want it.

Are you talking about the PCM screen? I might try that next time I'm out to see if that will toggle it. When I'm in the deeper PCM settings and click "connect" for CarPlay it will just sit there and do nothing, so it sounds like similar symptoms.

I have the same problem and haven't found the solution, or why it is happening.

Yes, the PCM screen.

+1 for me. Couldn’t get wireless CarPlay to work ever, heck I didn’t even get the CarPlay symbol/button to appear for me in PCM.

I just gave up and bought a short 6” lightning-usbc cable which I keep plugged in the center arm rest & physically plug my phone in every time.

Go to the device manager on the PCM and make sure the CarPlay symbol is activated. If it is disconnect and reconnect.

I feel like this is going to be my future.

Don’t give up on it. Experience with PCM 5 is that invariably CarPlay connection issues can be fixed on the phone side, often by switching to airplane mode and back again. Sounds like you’re well past that but have you tried unpairing the phone and repairing it?

It’s remarkable that so many people give Apple a pass on CarPlay issues, because the problems are inevitably on the phone side of things. If you encounter issues, reboot the phone and don’t muck with the PCM. Once you have it working with the PCM, never touch that again. It’s always the phone. Restart your phone and voila.

I will definitely give this a try! Yeah I've tried countless times starting from scratch pairing, as well as a factory reset on the PCM and my phone. Both were a gigantic PITA.

Absolutely. Once I get it up and running I'm not touching a thing on the PCM.

It's futile, Apple's customer service non-existent, and what little they have points fingers at the car.

It's worth mentioning - make sure phone is fully up to date. I've never had an issue w the MY22 PCM and Carplay on my 13 Pro.

My PCM worked fine with iPhone 11 Pro but after ‘upgrading’ to 13 Pro I’ve had no end of problems. Takes two or three goes to start up an app even after ACP is running, blank screens in between changing apps for several seconds and not infrequent ‘losing’ the phone and not recognising - some stuff on the internet about 13 running slow - so I guess it’s the firmware or iOS
