hello to everyone from hot sunny Puglia in Italy. ive been following you for ages and now I decided to connect with you as I need your help!
I have a '92 964 c4 cabriolet in slate gray, until last week also a 997 TT black that I sold for a new project. 2 months ago I've ordered a Gts 4 Targa in Black as I wanted the more aggressive look on it Trying keeping my black 997 clean (basically clean only for about 5 mins after a good wash) I've decided to change color.
And here is the drama
first I was after the Gt silver, but then I saw a few gt silver 911 in a Porsche center next to some blue ones and I'm now thinking to switch to blue. GB is too purple for me, Night blue is now on the special color grid PTS so if I have to spent that money I might get something more unique. So the one I like to most on the PTS colors is Albert blu, classic Porsche color, darker then GB and not that purple either and not met but full color. I really like Albert but I'm not sure it this color will tire me after a few months
Gt silver for sure won't tired me but it's not giving me the same emotions as a Blu Porsche.
which one between those 2 colors will show better the curvy shape of the 992?
if you could give me your opinion it would help me decide for the best TX
Albert blue is a pretty color, but don’t fool yourself thinking that it’s going to be much easier to maintain. It’s still a non-metallic dark color, which are all hard to maintain.
I would choose the color that has the best matching interior. For the Blue, for example, I would go with either slate gray or slate/chalk, and for the Silver I would check out red, blue or black.
I would go with the color that has the best combo.
I am a huge blue fan - but I don't know if it is Gentian or what, I've never had a car that was this hard to keep clean - dare I say I miss black some days!
and.... personal preference here... I'm just not a fan of black wheels on a dark blue (or dark colored) car. - they just wash away in terms of the look. So I would do a lighter colored car if going with black wheels….and that new Ice grey kind of looks nice.
It is kind of like asking us if we like blonde, brunette, or red head.
GT silver hides dirt much better than any darker colour. I have a GT silver 718 currently. But there are a lot of silver cars out there. Blends in a bit more. But mine has a red top and red interior, so mine sticks out. But I like unique things. Black top on silver was a bit boring for me.
Albert blue would be unique.
If you are worried about cleaning, maybe ceramic coat the car. Should make it a bit easier to keep clean.
You have to come up with a compromise that you are happy with.
I had a GT Silver car being built until I saw a Gentian Blue in person at the dealership. It was amazing in person. I completely changed my mind and switch the GT silver to Gentian... I'm just super happy I did before it locked 3 days later!!
In my opinion, when you go to a darker color it becomes more important for it to be a metallic finish. Non-metallic finishes show too many scratches and swirls. Look at a black metallic and non metallic car side by side and you will see what I mean.
