Driving in Sport Mode ...all the time, every time

I drive my 2021 base Carerra in sport mode only. It makes every drive more enjoyable, disables the annoying auto stop/start, and with PSE programming on my non-PSE car, it gives the car a perfect sound. Question- could I somehow be negatively impacting engine health/life by always driving in this mode ?

Frankly, Normal mode practically lugs the engine. Just don't exceed 4k until the engine oil temp is up. Otherwise, Sport mode all the time is fine.

I am also in Sport mode 99% of the time, for all the reasons you note. I don't have PSE, nor the PSE programming. I like the exhaust notes just fine. Love the car and so happy (and lucky) to be driving it. I took it into South Bay Porsche today to get the second key fob programmed. They refused to do the PSE programming. The service person said they had encountered some fault codes is cars they had tried it with.

The service dept at my dealer in NJ also resisted the PSE programming. They told me that had no idea what I was talking about.(even after I had e mailed them the PDF instructions and given the name of an Ohio dealer who I know had done it). I called the sales manager and told him it would be hard to give them a 5 start rating given the unresponsiveness of their service dept. Two days later he told me to bring the car in and they did the programming. Charged me for an hour of service- well worth it

Sport mode all the time with a manual transmission. I've gotten so lazy with the rev-matching downshifts that my heel-toe abilities have all but atrophied. On those rare occasions that I forget to turn on sport mode, I'll downshift and the car will lurch forward, followed by a "wtf" look from my wife 😂

I have adapted. Now I usually drive our PDK equipped 992 in Sport Plus with the PSE off. That's my "Individual" setting. It resembles my 911s of yore which never got beyond second gear driving around town, nor dropped below 2500 RPM. It makes the PDK more entertaining. On longer drives without changes in speed, I go to Sport. I select Normal if I am cruising - like on an interstate highway.

Sport mode on all times and Sport+ with suspension back to soft when driving more aggressive. I don’t like the low rpm upshifting when driving around. In sport the shifts happen a couple grand higher. Down shifts also happen higher up in the revs. Question to you guys about the G force meter. What’s the highest lateral you guys scored? I got my 4S up to 1.22, feels like 1.3 is possible.

Unless you hit something, you’re not going to break this car driving it around on the street. The 911 is designed to be driven at speed for hours and hours. It’s built for the autobahn and Porsche’s heritage is endurance racing. When I traded my 992C4S in at over 35k miles, it was more stout and sounded better than a new one.
There’s nothing that you can do driving these cars that does them more harm than sitting, being undriven. Drive your cars. Miles have precious little impact to depreciation compared to the fun that you could be having.
With regards to fuel economy, if the price of gas for your 911 is giving you any pause, you probably shouldn’t own one and/or you’re stretching too much to own a 911. I suspect that most 911 owners don’t care about gas prices or we’d be hearing enthusiasts clamoring for a hybrid, PHEV, or BEV 911. The price you pay at the pump plus, for scheduled maintenance, insurance, and registration is the cost of the fun. I’d normally include depreciation in that math, but that’s not even a factor in this environment. 😜

Yeah, I don’t know why anyone would not drive this in sport mode all of the time.
Normal mode is utterly boring. I only do it when I’m driving my car to work in the mornings surrounded by ho hum traffic, and I’m just not in the mood for visceral fun.
Any other time, it is sport or sport plus mode.
