Default Dyno Results after D088 Intercooler Mega Kit Install

Here are the dyno results on my 2020 base rwd 911 after the install of the complete @do88 performance intercooler mega kit. Peak hp went from 419 who to 444 whp running on Map 4 of the JB4 from BMS that I have on the car. More importantly, on the relevant part of the curve you can see hp gains of up to over 35 who which should definitely translate into better drag strip times.

During prior dyno runs without the DO88 intercooler kit the IATs would rise about 16 degrees from the beginning of a run to the end. After the install, the IATs rose a maximum of 3 degrees and sometimes there was no change in IAT at all. This is of course with the usual external fans blowing during the dyno run but that's a noteworthy improvement.

I hope to get the car to the drag strip this week and get some time slips to document the performance gains at the track and I'll share those here.

Thanks to Payam at BMS for allowing access to their dyno and helping with this and of course@SamboTT@ByDesign for the complete @do88 performance kit!

It should be noted that the car still has the factory case (not sport) exhaust system on i@do88 performance mega intercooler kit is a package that includes not only their new Garrett intercooler set up but all the related plumbing improvements with several carbon fiber pieces and new air boxes, plenum etc.

House Automotive in Encino, CA did the installation for me and they commented on the very high quality of all the DO88 pieces and how good the fit is which made the assembly and installation a smooth process.

Awesome write up Kim. We all appreciate the opportunity to work with you being local and a true, experienced track guy who can quantify it for us all. I really feel this will yield great performance on teh road and down the track. Those #'s under the curve will really shine. I have been very happy working with our friends @do88 performance on some great components.

Thanks Payam for helping with the dyno at BMS. That was also critical to use an independent 3rd party test facility for a fair before/after. Using the different maps shed light as well in that other thread how these efficiency improvements just keep delivering more as we move up the power latter.

Good luck at the track bud...Annalise is already calling us her 2 dads HAHA!

Great kit and improvement overall, can't wait to see how it does at the track! Weather is going to be hot this weekend so hopefully you can still get some decent data

I went to Irwindale Dragstrip last night for their 1/8 mile test and tune. I have attached my time slips ( I am car no 8882) and some 0 to 60 mph times from my Vbox (with 1 foot rollout). The 0 to 60's prior to the installation of the @do88 performance intercooler kit were in the 3.1 to 3.2 sec range. for the conditions yesterday (starting at 88 degree F and 2000 feet DA and dropping to 76 degree and 1600 feet DA for the last run) I feel the car would have been running 7.2s secs prior to the installation. So I'd estimate the performance gain to be a solid 0.15 to 0.2 secs in the 1/8th mile. Running on JB4 Map 4.

I also posted a video of the last run against a stock Hellcat with street tires- starting IAT was at 131 degree due to well over an hour of creeping in the lanes to get the run in.

I'm very happy with the performance gains and look forward to the full 1/4 mile at Famoso on Saturday even though it will be 90 degrees and probably a 3000 feet or higher DA. The race at Famoso is a Summit Series points bracket race so I'll get just 2 time runs and then go into eliminations. I got down to the quarter finals and the last 6 cars on the 2 prior races with my 2018 TTS and hope I can do as well in this car

Of note: It's often much more difficult to get great time slips at a drag strip due to the repeated start and stops when lining up to make a run which drive IATs higher than if you used a drag and drove out to a private location to do the runs. Additoionally, when comparing to Magazine times, they often correct for DA and temp. For example, Car and Driver uses a 1 foot rollout for 0 to 60 mph times and corrects to sea level for DA and 60 degrees for temp. When I did the GMC Syclone testing with Haggerty for the late model truck shootout vs the Syclone they were correcting Vbox nos to take into account temp and DA.

any more info on the do88 plenum setup? same or different as the IPD plenum that's out as well. can that intake setup be installed on the stock intercooler as well?

edit.. google works wonders lol..

do88 plenum is half the price of the IPD, intake setup is $2200.. this has me interested now. any plans to upgrade the turbos?

What's funny is that IPD basically copied the do88 plenum design. Look at older IPD plenums and now their new one. Their new one looks a hell of a lot like the do88 which has been around for quite a while.

A quick update. We decided to trade the 2020 992 base Carrera in on a 2017 911 Turbo (non S) with the idea that moving into the low 10's or high 9's in the 1/4 mile would be more cost effective and safer with an AWD 991.2 Turbo - given the high market prices on all the higher 992 variants and even the 991.2 Turbo S's.

Of course we had all the non-factory enhancements removed before making the trade and this complete kit, slightly used but in great condition, is available for sale at a discount! All track performance and dyne info is as relayed in this thread.

Please contact @SamboTT@ByDesign for pricing, exactly what the kit entails and model compatibility info. It's a beautiful, high quality collection of parts. Thank you!
