Default Road trip

I had a few days and decided to hit the road . The plan was simple with one destination in mind . Monument Valley on the border of Utah and Arizona . I knew I needed to be flexible so I planned for tent camping and then would hotel when needed . I let Google be my guide with no major highways. So for the vast majority of the trip it was 2 lanes . I did preview the route but saw no reason to not do the route provided. It was awesome! 4 days , 2500 miles covered , roads in all states much better then I would have thought . Needless to say the car was flawless. I am still smiling this morning 12 hrs after getting home . 95 % of the time I was in sport , 24 mpg . Some very long straights yes but with not another car in sight , let’s just say when I would slow down I was just under 100 . I drove between 9-10 hrs a day to my surprise I was comfortable the whole time. Elevation through Nevada and Utah was between anywhere between 4000 to the highest 9000 . The best time for just a surreal landscapes was early am and pm . There was a wind weather event day 2 and 3 but didn’t affect the driving fun …..just no camping in a tent

Outside Ely , NV

I finished the trip on one of my favorite routes through CA , and was not disappointed. While traveling Ca 25 near pinnacles state park I had my first sighting of 2 California condors. Unbelievable birds they were on a roadkill off the road . HUGE BIRDS . as for roadkill goes , I do not brake for ground squirrels, I do break for vultures……another car ….another story . There was a dead cow elk near the entrance of Grand Canyon….can’t imagine that went well . A lot of open range out there and was warned on a regular basis

music listened too , Grateful Dead , Bob Marley The whole way .😁

another side note… I lost 3 lbs …..I should probably keep driving

I road tripped my car to Sedona, Arizona; 1707 miles the first month of ownership……and I averaged over 500 miles per full tank (…standard gas tank). Phenomenal! Nice thread O.P.

Beautiful pictures and it sounds like a great trip. Way back (1985) right after I bought my first 911, we took it tent camping on a trip from Colorado Springs to San Diego. Both for the fun of it and because we did not have a lot of $ for hotels back then. Your post bring back these great memories.
