I think you’re being disingenuous by picking the worst stats to make your point. If you use all of C&Ds stats you will see that the manual S does the 1/4 mi in 11.8 sec @ 122 mph and the base Carrera does 11.5 @ 120. By 150 mph, the manual S is a good 1.5 sec faster. So in real world driving, on a roll, etc. the manual S will pull on a base Carrera. It simply has more power and can easily overcome the gearing disadvantage. Sure if you are at a dead stop and launch control the base PDK it will beat the manual S but virtually nobody drives like that on the street.

Ultimately though, it doesn’t really matter as those of us who bought a manual did so for the driving experience. None of us have any illusions that the manual is the top performing car. But if you run your base Carrera on the streets against a manual S, the manual will pull on you.

@AlterZgo , you posted the torque and power curves for the base and S engines last year which is worth revisiting here. The torque curve may go some way to explain why the MT is not offered in a base 992, remembering that the torque kicks in a few hundred revs higher in a 992 compared with the equivalent 991.

Honestly, I think Porsche doesn’t offer a manual in the base purely as a money grab. Want manual? Pay $15K more for an S. Both the base and S make more than enough torque for a manual or any transmission for that matter. Also these modern turbo Porsches have so little turbo lag and such high amts of torque at low RPMs that that just isn’t a problem. I had a 300ZXTT manual back in the day. That car had massively more turbo lag and less torque than any 992 yet was perfectly fine w/ a manual.

I am NOT going to track this car.

I won’t use launch control
I don’t like the clock
I won’t use the sport response button
I won’t use the track app
I won’t use sport+, because I understand it disables the traction control

I would use the sport and (I think) the wet mode.. which I understand is available without sport chrono? Is there any difference in these modes without chrono?

So, all that said… is there a reason for me to want sport chrono? Put differently, I don’t mind waiting for the right car; but I don’t want to wait for feature that I won’t use.
I have a 2020 992 C4S without SC. I still have wet mode,Sports exhaust and PASM.
On my console, i have the Wet and sports button, so easy to toggle.
I didn't spec this 911 but it had everything i wanted.
I wish I had the launch control, that's about it really.
If you like it buy it. I don't think you will lose any value in the future, I am in Eastern Canada and you can't find 911s for sale.
