Found a car without chrono…
Ain't Dat Da Truf? Deny your self the occasional special moments in a primo sports car... the icing on the cake? Guaranteed long term regrets. To know you have the tools to woup the Mustang egging you on at every light. HaHa
I personally don't want one w/o the sport Chrono. It's just an essential part to me for a 911 and not having it would bother me seeing the empty spot on dash evertome I drive. If it goes by what you really need - well there are many things we don't really need including a 911.

Well here is my take.
1: Its just so easy to turn the **** to change modes. I don't even know how to go to sport without it.
2: the sport response I was not using at all. I started play with it, and it add a little fun.
3: its also give you the option for a individual setting. so I have mine set to sport plus regular suspension and SE off Since there is a SE button on the dash.
Sport plus has better throttle response than sport. Can you live without it, sure. My I would prefer to pay a little extra and have it.

A 992 w/o Sport Chrono is a lesser car compared to those equipped with Sport Chrono. If you spec only one option, that option should be Sport Chrono.
When the time comes to sell your car, nearly 99% of Porsche 911 buyers will pass on a car without Sport Chrono, because the above stuff is so important. There’s a reason why non-Sport Chrono cars are easy come by.
Despite all of the above, there will still be people that try to rationalize skipping Sport Chrono. They’ll share the Carwow videos showing a Base Carrera being driven quickly without Sport Chrono. SPOILER ALERT: It would be even faster with Sport Chrono.
You’re dropping six figures on this car. When you skip Sport Chrono, you’ve got a slower and less desirable car. If you’re spending this kind of cash, do you really want that when the added cost is really just “tees in the golf cart” in the context of the overall purchase? For a mere, $2800 you could have had the whole thing.
All 992s are fast and fun. The ones without Sport Chrono are just less so. If that’s the personal choice that you want to make, let you be you. It’s your money. Your mistake to make.
- The PDK cars are considerably slower without the Sport+ profile.
- Sport Response button provides a magic boost/shove that you don’t get without Sport Chrono.
- Individual mode allows you to set up a driving mode just right for you. You’re stuck with the given modes if you skip Sport Chrono.
- With Sport Chrono, you get actual launch control that is far superior and more repeatable compared to brake boosting nonsense. Even if you rarely use it, it’s there.
- Steering wheel mode selector is something that you will use every single day and superior to the pressing buttons and navigating screens.
- It’s impossible to add the Sport Chrono features to a 911 after the fact. No one regrets spec’ing Sport Chrono. Search RennList and you’ll find folks deeply regretting the decision to skip.

@detansinn Are you saying that the PDK of non Sport Chrono cars is slower than Sport Chrono even outside the Sport+ mode?
I have always had 911s with Sport chrono and I agree that when in Sport+ the car feels A LOT faster but it’s so aggressive in terms of shifting that I would only use it at the track or when driving super aggressively (<5% of the time).
So I always thought I would be ok without it for street driving…
So when I read the OP’s preferences and given the market situation I was thinking he should get the car regardless of Sport Chrono…
Moving to manual helped me not have this dilemma anymore though. 🙂

So I found a 992 that has everything I want; except sport chrono; and so now I’m questioning how critical that feature is to me.
…so I could use some help.
I am NOT going to track this car.
I won’t use launch control
I don’t like the clock
I won’t use the sport response button
I won’t use the track app
I won’t use sport+, because I understand it disables the traction control
I would use the sport and (I think) the wet mode.. which I understand is available without sport chrono? Is there any difference in these modes without chrono?
So, all that said… is there a reason for me to want sport chrono? Put differently, I don’t mind waiting for the right car; but I don’t want to wait for feature that I won’t use.

BTW what version of the car are we talking about?
I have noticed that the lack of Sport Chrono is a lot more common on Base cars.
My guess is that people are looking for a lower price point to enter the 911 world and Sport Chrono is a fairly subtle option unless you are familiar with the car.
There are way fewer S cars without Sport Chrono since S is targeting a more performance oriented buyer.
So, if this is a Base car, as long as it’s reasonably speced otherwise, I don’t think this would impact resale much as it would offer a low price point for an awesome car.

There is a trivially small upside in cost savings in a sport Chrono delete (relative to the overall cost of the car) compared to the meaningful loss of capability without this feature.
Sport+ drives significantly different than regular Sport. It is not subtle. It’s not just changing shift points - it’s changing the throttle response. It drives like a different car.
Quick access to the various modes and having the option of a configurable Individual mode is a major convenience.
Sport response button is just plain fun.
It’s easy to rationalize this when you get excited about a car. I would just caution you not to undersell this option - I suspect most seasoned Porsche owners would pass on a sport Chrono delete.
