0-60 times
#136
So 2.74 sec with 1ft rollout. If I start with the Porsche times for the stock 4CS @ 3.2 sec (no rollout), then deducting the ~0,2 sec rollout time….the stock 4CS is around 3.0sec (1 ft rollout)…with the tune reducing 0-60 time ~0.3 sec, from stock. OK, this is about what I expected. With the 2CS, the issue to achieve this time is going to be about getting better grip.
For the record, Porsche gives a time for the TT-S of 2.6 sec (no rollout). The tuned 4CS is 2.9 sec (no rollout), or a delta of ~ 0.3 sec. Given that the TT-S is, essentially, Porsche’s gold standard for straight line quickness, I’d say the tune is pretty impressive. At higher speed and longer distances, the TT-S should yield a wider margin..or will it? Those with the tune say it is most impressive/strongest pull at higher speeds…will be interesting to see 1/8mi or 1/4 mi times for the tuned 4CS.
I hope more 2CS and 4CS Rennlisters with a tune, post their times to get a better idea of how repeatable this is?

This is very true and I am likely the outlier here in that I care about how sensation and powerful the car feels to me and do not care about the numbers. If Tune A makes my car feel 10% faster but its actually not any faster and Tune B makes my car feel the same but put down numbers that are 10% better, I will pick Tune A every time. For many here, that is blasphemous. But I am not racing anyone else on the street at those extremes and could care less about bragging rights. In fact, the more some other driver seem to want to race me, the more fun I have just cruising and letting them blow by not knowing whether or not they could "take me" if I had tried. For me, it is about the sensation I get from hitting the gas. In all likelihood, there will be a correlation between that and the numbers, but, aside from their value in predicting which tune will give me that sensation, I have no real interest in the numbers.

Yes, some won’t care about the numbers or that it actually goes faster. But some will.
Everybody has their own reasons for wanting a Porsche. Some want it for the fantastic handling, and to take it out to the track…but most won’t bother. Some want a Porsche for the exhilaration of driving a fast car….but some could care less about such juvenile things. Some buy a Porsche for the prestige, and to be “seen” in something exotic, if not rare, in many areas of the Country….but some don’t care what others think. Some buy a Porsche for it’s fine craftsmanship and German engineering…until, well, they try the PCM 😳 😂. Some buy a Porsche simply because it’s been a lifelong dream of theirs. Whatever the reason(s), we all have them, and it’s fine if everyone has a different reason.
Some of us will continue to pursue perfection by making any number of modification e.g, exhaust, down pipes, tunes, tires, suspension, etc. Are they needed? No, but some of us will continue to make modifications, nonetheless, to an already fantastic car, because that;’s what we enjoy. I, for one, have always enjoyed watching (and sometimes participating) in street racing in SoCa. In large measure, I’ve grown out of that…but the urge for more speed, a quicker car… has never completely faded. Oh, and yes, I still get excited when someone pulls up next to me and wants to race..and if conditions allow, I will accept the challenge….but I never go looking for a challenge. Call it juvenile gratification, but it always brings a smile to my face when I catch, and then pass my challenger. I am just the “handler”. The Porsche does all the work, and gives me great gratification in the process. On the track, however, the driver is more involved and plays a bigger part in the outcome.

Do you think there’s much performance benefit from either the downpipes or the filters? I don’t mind the PSE sound and the only addition I’ll make is the sport cats.
#144
Filters, eh. You'll hear big arguments from both sides. I don't believe they're really worth the trouble.
#145
That’s what I’ve been reading on the filters. Unless you want a bit more sound, not worth it. Thanks for the down pipe info. That and some sport cats and I’m done with the mods.

so there’s some difference in just having either one (hence going from stg1 to stg2) but not much between the two individually. I did catless because I wanted the most ounce of sound and power I could get with the PSE (although I think I reallyyyy want the Akra exhaust next) and here in Texas it’s really easy for me to pass emissions with them, and with the valves fully open mod from the M-eng tune it does sound really good. And catless are like half the price of sport cats.
Filters I don’t have a clue on performance wise but I got Sprint performance dry filters so that I don’t have to oil them or replace them ever, just a dry clean every so often.

^ If you want the most sound, forget the Akrapovic and get either GMG Race exhaust or Soul Performance non-valves exhaust.
That with decat?
Fuggettaboutit!
And my theory is that Soul’s 3” diameter and lack of valves or any restriction whatsoever makes a few more horsepower. My theory rests on the fact that the two forumers here who got PDK errors from the M Engineering tune (Myself and Mattchow) both have that exhaust set up.
Go for the veritable straight pipe, my friends

Tbh I wasn’t super impressed with the actual sound signature of the Soul videos and also after hearing it in person in a buddy’s car. However the 22 min youtube video of the 992 Akra exhaust does sound pretty good to me (reminds me of my Remus exhaust on my last M4), and the slight weight savings of it as well.
