You can't get leather in a Tesla anymore. If I'm not misakten, you can opt for alternative leather in benzes now. I'd like to see Porsche follow suit.

That said, I opted for full leather. I'm no bleeding heart peta nutjob, but I support and appreciate the direction of the industry in this regard.
Serious question, what do they do with dead cow skin anyways after it’s slaughtered?

Funny you should ask. This thread made me wonder the same, whether it's actually worthwhile to avoid leather. I came across this article, which seems to indicate we can continue using/wearing leather relatively guilt free -

Hard to believe that not a single poster suggested the compromise option. Standard interior with the leather option, NOT full leather.

Ihad a 2021 992 with black standard interior, have two 2022’s, both black interior, one full leather and the other with standard interior with leather option.

1. looking at just the seats I cannot tell the the seats apart in any of the three versions. Seats are stitched in all three.
2. the leather option gives you the leather dash and door panels which as others have noted is what you look at and it makes a very large aesthetic difference.
3. the only advantage both practical and visual with the full leather option is you can get black with chalk stitching at no increase in cost. With standard interior with leather option the stitching is the same everywhere but the color is medium/ dark grey.

If you like black interiors (I do), the the best value is standard with leather option.

@ohniner is on the money!
That is what I did with my order, but in Slate Grey for $2,840.

I've owned two 992's. My first had standard leather and my current one has full. The only reason I have the full leather now is because I wanted the red/black two-tone combo. The full leather definitely takes the interior up a notch and gives the car a more premium look. The soft touch (on the standard interior) isn't bad. Better than a Honda but still not as nice as the full leather.

That option is only available on base models, not on S or above. The only way you can get leather dash/door caps on an S is with full leather. Not sure why they don't offer it on the S as well, really the only difference between the standard interior on a base and S is the front seat centers which are faux leather on the base but real leather on the S.

I have standard base interior. I'm too busy enjoying the drive to notice any interior details.

I agree with the standard interior with leather option. The only issue is that you are stuck with black or slate gray. Certain color combos can only be had if you go full leather. For example, when mixing and matching exterior paint samples to interior leather samples, Dolomite Silver with Graphite (blue-gray) leather was a color combo that spoke to me like no other, and as such, limits you to full leather.

I opted for the Standard interior in Slate Grey with the Leather package ( partial) and very happy with the choice. More leather than standard interior but not as much $$ as the full leather.

I’ve had full leather on both 911’s I have had (997.2 4s and 991.2 s). Have 992.1 T on order with full leather. Main reason is I don’t want the pebble dash. Saw in person and thought it was “meh”, but admittedly few will notice difference. I want as little plastic as possible.

All personal taste. I bought used and came with standard. I like leather interior on most cars I have but it was more important I get things like sport Chrono. A 911 is a sports car for me first and not a luxury cruiser but everybody has different priorities. The standard interior does not look cheap and I think goes well for a sports car. Sure leather is nice but I have yet to hear one person that stept close to my car or gets in making a single comment about having standard, cheap looking interior. One I take a seat behind the wheel I just enjoy the ride and don't think twice about it. If my one came with leather, great, but it does not bother me a bit it did not (and I was skeptical at first).

I love the way contrast stitching pops on full leather on the dash and steering surround, makes the car feel more special and bespoke, I could never go to standard interior.

To me leather on the dash makes a huge difference. I don't notice the doors as much. A few years ago I had a preowned 991.1 with the leather dash. Despite being 5 years old, I remember how amazing that interior looked. As compared to other cars with plastic pebble dash I noticed while shopping for a 991 at the time. They just looked old and dated. I know the car is for driving, but most of us probably spend way more time in our driveway or at the stop light staring at the dash. So while not necessary, if you have the means I say go for it.

I've had both. I thought the standard interior was fine, didn't mind it at all, but did spec full leather on my current 992 because I was trying to lux it up as a daily. But didn't mind the rubber dash at all. I thought it looked and felt good and fit a sports car ethos. If I was spec'ing a T or a GT car I think it's actually more fitting.

Won't matter much for the typical 3 years and out Porsche owner but the standard dash will look better in 20 years than the leather dash.

There is no wrong choice here but the full leather does look upscale and smells amazing.

For me full leather is a must. When looking at for sale listings, I skip right over builds with the standard interior, but that’s just me.
