One big issue was that in the hot Fl sun the dash and door panels peel . Its covered under warranty but once thats over its very expensive to repair.
I know that the interior door panel problem was an issue for the 991 and suspect this will be true for the 992 as well. My understanding is that the problem stems mostly from the type of adhesive being used. I do garage my vehicles, but they are also subjected to a few days in the week where they are parked outside without shade from the elements.

Agreed. I'm one those people that would be holding my hand up to purchase a base 992 with a manual transmission and no other options..🙂

Standard interior is just fine. Had full on leather in my 997 turbo. Now comparing the two, can't notice any difference.

I’ve owned both and personally think full leather is a must option. However I keep my cars awhile and value things I will touch and feel every drive vs. exterior cosmetic options that I’ll never notice.

If I was you OP, I’d say it depends entirely on your plan for this car: Is this your first 911 and you’ll likely upgrade in the future? Then get base interior.

Will this be a long term “keeper” for you? Get full leather.

Couldn't be happier with my "base" interior. At 33,000 km it looks the same as it did on day one...although the 18-way leather seats are showing a wrinkle here and there. I'd be happy if the ENTIRE interior was man-made, as I consider leather to be sub-standard to some of the newer, long-wearing synthetics.

I love the look and smell of leather. This is a premium automobile that deserves leather. Sometimes it's the subtle differences that make all the difference.
I too am on a budget and but will skimp elsewhere.

In my case, after some debate, I went with Leather but skipped Sport Exhaust & the Glass Sunroof.

I went with the standard interior on my 21 C2S, as I wanted the manual transmission and went over budget on getting the S. In doing so, I had to drop full leather as some other options I wanted were higher priority. I do agree with some posters that full leather upgrades the cabin but imho, it’s not a showstopper if you skip it.

We don’t need no stinking optional interior. Get in, sit down and buckle up! Then go!

I got the standard interior on my 992S. No issues with it but I did upgrade to full leather @ $6200 on my Gt3 for resale ..kind of bullsh-t at $161,000 base price you don’t gat a full leather interior . Carl

I closely examined both interiors and opted for the standard interior. I want a sports car that feels like a sports car, not a luxury car. I think Porsche did something brilliant too on the standard interior. The only part of the interior that I touch regularly (other than the steering wheel / gear shift) is the door handle. And guess what, they wrapped the door handle in leather. Nice.

I don't know if it's sub-standard or not, hopefully you're right, or will be right with evolving suitable alternatives. What I do know is that I'm a big fan of the trend (is it a trend yet, if not, it will be) of moving away from dead cow skins in our cars, and with our shoes and belts and whatnot. You can't get leather in a Tesla anymore. If I'm not misakten, you can opt for alternative leather in benzes now. I'd like to see Porsche follow suit.

That said, I opted for full leather. I'm no bleeding heart peta nutjob, but I support and appreciate the direction of the industry in this regard.

Years ago I scoffed at BMW’s leatherette, and have owned 4 BMW’s that I ordered upgraded. My views have changed. I’d have no issue with a fully synthetic interior. My 911 has a base interior.
