Default Edition 50Y Porsche Design 911 Targa

So, should I select "PDK" or the "MANUAL" option for this incoming Porsche Design Targa 911?

You should get what **YOU** want IMO as both are awesome in their own way.

PDK gives the best of both. Aggressive paddle shifting with dual clutch and rev-matching, or full auto mode when you just want to cruise. The only thing missing is the third pedal. That's important for many. If it is for you, then get the MT. If not, get the PDK.

That Targa rocks regardless!

Reads like an excuse to share your enthusiasm on your new car…which is fine. Just wish you left out the PDK vs MT question.

My answer is valid , oNLY for this particular model: manual.

Buying it stick will give you a much higher resale value in the future.

I would go with the MT on this as well.

I like that door decal, minus the word "design". The wheels are beautiful, though they'd be nicer in black to these eyes; as would the targa bar.

Agree with all. I bought it to drive it. Unfortunately, I live in a major metro, so in town driving a MT to me sucks big time. I prefer the PDK all day regardless. You may be different. I know some people look at these cars as investments, but honestly they are a loss leader unless you plan NOT to drive it and put it up on blocks for 30 years, then you might make some money. I think the same cash in the market would be a better investment. BUY WHAT YOU WANT, don't consider re-sale IMHO.

Entirely personal I know, but it beats the bollocks out me why anyone driving a sports car would NOT want the tactility and connection of a manual. Maybe it’s a ‘senior’ thing…

Agree, but in my case I am just lazy, and don't mind admitting it. If I lived in an area where I had the opportunity to enjoy the thrill of the tactility, then my opinion would certainly be different. I am about three hours away from any curves to speak of....sad for me, I know.

The Targa is an homage to a time when manual transmissions accounted for 99% of sales. Honor the past, get the manual!

By that argument, so is the 911 and you should also have a crap radio, manual seats, a physical key and crank windows bc those were also 99% of the sales. Reminds me of what we always say about the fire department: 100 years of tradition uninterrupted by progress.
