Ok, which option codes would have this technology on a 991.2? Probably a better question for the 991 forums, but since this thread already exists, thought I'd post here. My car has this PDLS+ LED option:
XEY - Black design PDLS+ Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus LED headlights with dynamic cornering lights, speed-sensitive headlight control, dynamic main beam depending on the traffic situation (camera-based)
which is the dark variant of
602 - PDLS+ Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus LED headlights with dynamic cornering lights, speed-sensitive headlight control, dynamic main beam depending on the traffic situation (camera-based)
I'm the 2nd owner, so I didn't spec the car...

Has anyone been able to activate this on a US model Porsche? Whether or not they turn it on for previous cars will depend on the certification process...it is doubtful they will go through the trouble of getting prior model years certified with. NHTSA.

i have some doubt that your assumptions are correct - VWAG has had ADB applications/exemption requests on file since 2017.

I did it on my 4 series and er it didn’t make much of a diff for me haha.

That is a link to the NHTSA and from that page you may choose to peruse the entire 300 (plus) page PDF of the specific legislation. Someone may want to check me as my legalese is a little shaky. With that said if you're not wanting to dig through the PDF among many other things the legislation allows for the retrofit of the lighting without further specific certification so long as it meets the regulatory standard described in the legislation. This was in response to aftermarket input from Hella and others.
I have to say I didn't realize all the potential interests involved in the lights. A good example would be that drive-in theater owners requested that the lights have a manual override; an always on option was considered.
In any event it looks to me like the door is wide open for any OEM auto manufacturer to enable currently installed matrix lights. The standards were derived with industry input and my guess is that means they made sure their investment was covered.
Edit: The exemptions applied for were never granted and have now been denied as they have been obviated by the current legislation. It mentions that in the PDF.

Just search matrix headlights on YouTube, lots and lots of videos. Some show the whiz-bang stuff (particularly the etron videos) and others are more grounded showing how the lights respond to oncoming traffic and that sort of thing.

Until the first RennLister gets theirs activated by the dealer, I would not declare victory yet. Before the legal decision, no US customer successfully enabled Matrix headlights via PIWIS — if they did, they would be a RennList hero, sung about around campfires.
I don’t intend to be a bummer, but folks should keep expectations in check until a Porsche dealer actually does it.

Three Wheelin'
I have them activated on my M5. Very cool but really only noticeable on dark back roads with the occasional car passing the other way. Much less so driving on roads with lights or any volume of cars in front of you or driving the opposite direction.

The NHTSA today approved the rule amendment that will permit Matrix/ADB lighting:
https://www.nhtsa.gov/press-releases...safety-drivers
I have asked my Porsche dealership to follow up with PCNA to arrange Matrix activation (as of today, the dealership had had no communication from PCNA).
The rule amendment will be effective upon Federal Register publication. I will plan to post again when that occurs.

^ this. As I said above, I expect Porsche’s response to this to be very slow in coming, if ever. For many of us, they already have our money, so activating is going to cost them time and $….or maybe they will charge us again to activate hardware we already paid for??
I think the “saggy seat” thread is how I see things going…”nothing we can do”.
