Default Anyone regret choosing black wheels?

My car is close to locking. I’ve never owned a car with black wheels & my last 992 was white with silver wheels & yellow PCCB. My new build is white with black center locking wheels & black PCCB. Has anyone regretted getting black wheels? I know they don’t photograph well & create a pseudo black hole. I read some consider it to look too ‘aggressive’ & ‘gangster’. While others feel it looks more ‘motorsport’ & provides a nice ‘contrast’. For someone who’s never owned a black wheel car. Will I regret it?

Not just gangster…yesterday’s gangster. They’ve been done to death by almost every car manufacturer. A Porsche GTS -any model-without black wheels is a rare car. Also a silver shade of some description will show off the design. Porker wheels are expensive…why camouflage them?

If it fits, then you will have no regrets. And white car with black wheels is perfect. GR and black wheels, for example, are the perfect contrast. Don't listen to the masses.

I've had too many black wheels dating back to 2005. I prefer a dark gunmetal now.

My GTS will have black wheels. I'm not a fan, but I'm hoping that the satin finish will reflect enough light that they don't create the black hole effect that most black wheels create to my eyes. I don't like regular silver wheels either. I prefer the look of dark wheels with silver facing or grey wheels. But since those aren't an option on the GTS, I went with black Spyder Design wheels. There is a local wheel shop by me that can strip and repaint them to grey for $175/wheel if I decide I can't live with black. They can also create a silver facing around the perimeter so they look just like the RS Spyder Design wheels of the S (which I like). I've seen their work, and my Porsche dealer uses them regularly.

Black wheels look great. I chose not to get them because I’m tired of having cars with black wheels and was looking for something different. As mentioned, black wheels are very common. Also, My wife has a “murdered out”Kia Sorrento and no way I could deal with her constantly telling me I copied her good taste.

love the black wheels on the gts. this is personal preference - as evidenced by the polar opposite responses here. do not look to internet strangers to tell you what to like.

I agree with this. On some colors, black wheels look great, while on others, IMO, not so much. For example, black on AG, IMO, is not a good look.

My former 991.2 what is my first car with black satin wheels. I absolutely love them! For years I had thought that I might not enjoy them nearly as much as I did. They look clean even when they’re dirty and give the car a motor sport styling cue presence.. I do wish Porsche offered some of the selections of HRE. On the other side of the fence I love and have a set of brushed clear on my 911 turbo. I like the shades in between as well. However for an OEM wheel on a GTS particularly there is nothing I would choose other than satin black.

Had them in the past. Will never purchase again. From 10+ feet away looks like 4 spare tires/wheels.

I don't like black wheels. They are impossible to keep clean. If they are matte black, they get dirty looking almost instantly. If they are gloss, they get hairline and swirl marks very quickly.

Think how hard it is to keep a black car clean and that gives you an idea. If anything black wheels are harder than that.

Brake dust also shows up as a brown color on black wheels - it's not like they hide dust any better.

Yes. Wheel/automotive manufacturers have smartened up on this point, and many wheels, like the ones on my 2021 992S, use the silver to highlight the wheel, on the radial spokes radiating out from the wheel center, but in areas that actually collect brake dust, are coated with something that’s brownish-grey in color, and overall, do a pretty good job in masking the brake dust…
