...and on the subject of 'absurd' repair costs, a buddy of mine has a Mclaren 720. On a canyon drive last year, there was a smallish rock in the road that had sloughed off a canyon wall, he didn't have much choice and straddled it. It hit the underside of the car.
Not a big hit, didn't have to stop the car or get it towed. But it cracked plus put a small whole in the the carbon fiber monocoque. The $320K car was deemed totaled! Ouch!

Good God. First World Problems.

So thank you for all the replies,
The car is still at Spectrum Collision (Porsche Approved Body Shop) in Irvine CA.
The car will hopefully going back to Newport Porsche dealer soon to wake up the computer and for them to run coolant tests. This is what the body shop told me.
If the dealer approves the work then hopefully I will get my car back soon.
It’s been about 5 months now.
After I get the car back I will look into selling it or keeping it until 2026 and sell it then for a newer model. Possibly a GTS or GT3. This is my first 911 but I’m hooked.
Be safe out there everyone. You do not want to be out of a 911 for 5-6 months like me.

Glad you are about to get your car back but yikes on the timeframe and duration of the repair. 5 mos man....is a while to be without the car. I would advise..enjoy it when you get back and don't be so quick on trying to trade it...more than likely the supply chain for a new 992 from all I hear is still very much constrained so ordering a new car is not an easy walk down to the dealership these days. Your chances of getting a 992 GTS or GT3 especially will likely incur a significant wait on your end....but the dealer will gladly take your car and sell it to someone else most likely. Just the sign of the times....my dealer has like NO new 992s for sale on the floor for like mos now. All are pre-sold that arrive and sit around for a few days waiting for their new owners to pick them up.
Good luck OP either way you chose to go!

I did some very light damage to my GTS aerokit that most people would have left alone and I ordered new front lip and had it painted and installed. $3k and that was before covid. I have a new 2022 Macan GTS with issues from the factory and it's been 5 months and no parts from Porsche!! I'd sell it!
