Default Help on a driveway issue in Scottsdale: too steep?

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen, I need some help...

I live in Louisiana and my sweetheart is in Scottsdale, AZ. I would love to bring the car (2020 911S with skirts and PASM) out there, but on my visits I noticed the steep angle of her driveway.

I believe approaching the driveway perpendicular would work, but before I drive 1500 miles, I would like to know for sure. Since her HOA doesn't allow on-street parking it could be a quick turnaround.

If any 911 owners are in the area and would be willing to take a look, I would be very appreciative.
Not only would you be furthering true love, but we would love to treat you and your SO to dinner at the restaurant of your choice in the Scottsdale area.

Thank you all.

Have her measure with a tape measure how big the curb is. You should have pretty close to 6 inches of clearance, at an angle you should not have a problem (unless it is massive). Once you know how big the curb is, you can find something similar near you to try out.. If no one is near of course.

Post a google map picture, if you feel comfortable doing that.

Love will find a way. And if not, a nearby parking lot and short Uber ride will.

Except with nearly 5 3/4 inches of clearance on the 992 with SPSAM, not really that needed 95% of the time. Seriously we are not talking 4" here, FAL is not needed in most scenarios with this car.

Just as a reference some of the newer lexus "sports cars" like the RC has 5.3" of ground clearance. Which is 1/2 inch less than my porsche 911. (My son has one) His scrapes getting on our 4 post lift (without extended ramp rails), my 911s have never scraped (minus the GT's)

I always get FAL on my GT porsches and other exotics, but in the 911(non GT) variant with or without SPASM, never found it necessary in my last several 911.

With that in mind, if you live in an area with gigantic speed bumps, or steep entry ways, then sure. But lets not be overarching - I have never needed it. Not saying I did not take a few entries at an angle, but not like I was scraping like I have on other cars (even with FAL).

The point is you don't get FAL because you need it in most scenarios. You get FAL so you never have to worry about it, even in rare circumstances like the OP's. No doubt it's a luxury and you're paying for added peace of mind.

In my community we have overnight guest parking at the club house which is because on street parking is not allowed - maybe an option for you ????

I am just happy to have gone through life without ever having to be subject to an HOA.

If you can’t park a 911 on the street, something is wrong.

As for FAL, a 911 really isn’t low enough to need it. At over 36k miles on my SPASM 992C4S through 18 states, I’ve never thought “I really wish that I had FAL”. That being said, if your own driveway is problematic, get FAL, because you don’t need that stress every time you arrive home.

Bridjit curb ramps are also an excellent solution for your driveway entry point if you didn’t spec FAL. We used them at our old house which had a nasty curb. They’re heavy — not something that you can take with you in the car, but if you don’t have FAL or a collection of cars that are very low, they’re a great solution.

As other have suggested, many of these developments do have some kind of guest parking at club house or common area, because some HOAs even restrict the number of cars in a driveway OR don’t allow driveway parking at all.

Good luck!
