Default Third Porsche purchase, sight unseen: Am I crazy??

Two and a half years ago, purchased 2009 base Cayman 6 speed for 26k. Did not lay eyes on it until the transport truck delivered it from California other than pictures. I had never been in a Cayman or driven one before the purchase.

One and a half years ago, purchased 981 Cayman GS for 57k from North Carolina. My brother test dove it and shared live video feeds. Bought it before flying down to pick it up. I had never seen a GTS or driven a 981 before purchase.

July 2021. Placed order for a Targa4s for 163K. I have driven a 992 about 4 miles. I have never sat inside a Targa.

Maybe just blind trust of Porsche or viewing about 35 YouTube videos of Targa's.

I had never driven TTS when I ordered mine. Fact is, most people are unlikely to have driven a Targa or TT/TTS or GTx before buying one. Probably even Carreras nowadays.

I didn't drive my Alfa 4C before ordering it from an out-of-state dealer. Loved every minute of it.

Likewise with my newly delivered 22 Targa 4. I didn't see it or drive it until I already paid for it (150k). Best car decision of my life!

The only Porsche product I've ever driven was a used 996 cabrio for only a few miles about 20 years ago. I have a 992 GTS coming in. I'm basically going in blind as well but very confident it will be a sweet driving experience!

Same here. I drove a 991.2 GTS Cab (about 10 miles), loved it and ordered a 992 Targa GTS. I have sat in a 991.2 Targa but never in a 992.

No matter which you buy - a new 992 can't go wrong!

Yea never sat in a 992 yet. The very few 992s on display at my local dealerships are all sold and can't be touched. I also don't have many rich friends hah!

I test drove a C2S coupe right after the 992s were released but decided to keep my 991.2 at the time. When my dealer finally broke down my resistance by offering more and more money on trade for a C4S cab allocation last fall, it had been quite a long time since I had driven one. And by then, none to drive.
So, kinda but not really before ordering. We did get to sit in both 14 and 18 way seats though and that was helpful in sticking with the 18s.

Drove a Porsche for the first time ever (991.2) at Barber track and Porsche Track Experience (highly recommended, although track != street driving) for 2 days in summer 2019 - went home and ordered a 992 C2S without having seen one in person, delivered in Jan 2020. Considered used/older/993 - but decided I would always regret not getting a new 992. Not sure what I'm going to do next though. Yes, we are both crazy.

I ordered my 2020 C2S with 7MT almost 2 years ago and had NOT driven a 992 manual but I had on previous Porsche's. I was not disappointed and I highly doubt you will be either. Rest easy and enjoy the journey.

My first time ever driving a 911 was the day I placed my order - wouldn't be surprised if it was like that for a lot of people.

Incoming sight unseen manual 981 Cayman myself. I did drive the same year Boxter a few years ago and another same year Cayman with PDK. They are so hard to find these days with a stick that I almost had no choice than to buy without driving first.

If you have to have a test drive, then waiting around for an available to Targa might take you out of the market for the foreseeable future.

Not even the PECLA (either in ATL or LA) have Targa's available.
