I see you have very few posts. If you have been watching this forum for the past few months there has been much discussion on this and several folks including me have done tunes. Please do a search.

A lot of folks are going for the M-Engineering tune because they say it's excellent and you can do it yourself through the OBD port: https://rennlist.com/forums/992/1265...-flashing.html

Here is one that I've been talking about for the past two days. There are plenty of tunes for the 992. GIAC, COBB, M-Engineering, etc.

Others can chime in.

I went with GIAC….

I have been watching the tune threads also because considering adding a tune with Soul sport cats. My concern is how these mods effect warranty because there is no such thing as a tune install that cannot be detected. I am concerned that Porsche will use the tune or mods to try to void the warranty if I have a major issue with engine, turbos or LSPI during the warranty period.

These motors seem to be pretty bulletproof. I’ve been watching the 991.2 tune threads and a Stage 1 tune appears to be safe. I wouldn’t hesitate on getting one.

You are correct…and I expect APR, GAIC, Cobb and Softronic are all of the same opinion as M Engineering…..they all sell tunes….that is their bread and butter. The issue would be one of proving no legal causation between the mod installed (tune, sport cats, etc.) and the failure, but the tune vendors do not have to hire the attorneys and expert witnesses to fight Porsche (one of the richest corporations on the planet thanks to us) on a $10-$25k warranty claim. As the old saying goes, even if I win …….”the process is the punishment.”

But, I would already have a tune by now but for this one concern of mine……..which is not a technical concern, ironically.

Not sure whay you even asked the original question when you had already made up your mind that for you , a tune is not possible.

This debate will go on forever. One needs to be comfortable with doing a tune, themselves, and if they have a tune-friendly Dealership that is a huge plus.

But as stated above, this 3.0 appears to be close to bulletproof.

I think it's GAIC (or is it APR?) that will provide engine warranty with their tune for the same warranty period as the manufacturer's. However you can't have the Sport Cats unless you use their solution.

I believe the APR may be the one that offers the warranty. I’m currently having the GIAC tune put on my car and nothing about a warranty has been mentioned.

That being said, GIAC seems to be in bed with some of the more tune-friendly dealerships. So, those dealerships MAY be more willing to assist you, should a failure occur. Key word here is “may”.

To tune or not to tune. That is the question…
