Default Will I really get MSRP?

In July, I placed a written, Signed order with a refundable deposit for a Targa 4S. I was 4th in line. I am now first in line for an allocation.

The contract gave an MSRP price for my specific build code PNG6PVRO for a 2022 model.

I found another dealer offering a Targa 4S for 20k ADM. I was just curious.

Do you think there will be any "shenanigans" from the dealer on my order?

Have dealers been known to give away an order to a higher bidder in my situation? I will not pay over MSRP.

Anything is possible before you have the actual allocation. In my case the build sheet came with a purchase order at time of allocation that quoted total cost (MSRP plus taxes, doc fees etc) and was signed by both dealer and myself. It has been honored now as I take delivery, though, right now even this dealer sells new orders above MSRP.

Do hookers always tell their Johns that they are the best they've ever had?

If they did not put an ADM on your original order, they likely (hopefully) will not go back on that. However, the next allocation you get - you could be bumped for those that are willing to pay more, that you will never know. You still might be in for a longer wait, as targa allocations can be fewer than others (minus GT cars). So while they likely will honor the MSRP, the question is when will you get that allocation.

The only number you have to get in writing IMHO is the "out of the door price".

This will include all shenanigans (markups, prep fees, state and local add on fees etc.). MSRP, discounts etc. will all be offset by "last minute" or "never discussed" overhead fees, so the real number is the one reflecting your discount (if any), minus add-ons to come up with a "what are you paying to drive this car off the lot". THAT is the bottom line; focus on the forest not the trees

There are Porsche dealers in the Boston area that actually have a couple of unsold 911s in stock so maybe the "shortage" is easing up and MSRP will once again be the actual price.

Ask for it yesterday, specifying the out of the door price. The sooner you get it the sooner you'll know what your final price actually is.

I don't think you have an actual "order" until you have an allocation. Think about it: why would the dealer commit themselves to a deal at MSRP but allow you to have the ability to walk at any time - with your refundable deposit - if the market softens and you can get a discount somewhere else. No good business gives the other side a free option. Now, hopefully they will honor the MSRP quote, but I would not be surprised if they either ask for an ADM or push you back and give the allocations to someone who is paying an ADM.

Yep, you have a build code but that's about it. As to your deposit, refundable or not, it's my understanding that the dealer may refund it to you (you can't demand it back a non refundable deposit) if he can get a better deal prior to getting the allocation in your name. In my case every little snag that was hit in the process (past the allocation) the Sales Mgr. offered to buy it back, rather than address the issue.

I just inquired about one but all have ADMs. Even for allocations. I got my base last year without ADM
