Do you drive your 992 year round?
#16
I answered yes to driving year round in the poll but I’m probably one of a few owners who won’t drive their 911 in the summer.
It will be sitting in the garage in Georgia for June, July and August while we are at our summer home in Connecticut.
Fortunately, we don’t really get what I would call winter weather in Ga so “down” time is minimal in January, February and March 🤣

I drive all year, just a little less in the winter. I keep summer tires on, we don’t get much snow and will usually have warmer days when I can drive. I do pay attention to temperatures( outside and tire temps) and rain. You won’t find me driving in a cool rain on summer tires even if it is well above freezing. That said, the car might sit for a couple of weeks due to the weather but I miss driving it and I am happy to see a warm, dry day.

The right tires and skill... when I test drove for VDub/Audi/Bentley they took us on a one day ice/winter track at the US Army Arctic warfare training center. The first ten minutes were ... "riveting" after that you started to learn how to anticipate.
Better IMHO to drive a wee bit slower than wait five months to be able to drive it a wee bit faster.

Why would anyone want to stop driving the greatest fun car out there for months in the winter. Life is too short to stop enjoying it for that long. I want to have driving enjoyment every day I am alive and at 83 I am not sure how many more days I will have. When I drive my wife's Macan because we need the size I have a letdown and can't wait to drive the 911.

This car below is horrible when it's in the teens and icy or snowy. I have 2 AWD drive car, stuck on summer tires, and can't be driven safely in bitter cold weather or snow or ice. Awesome! Neither car can accommodate all season tires on the wheels I have, as far as I've been told.

^ I have all seasons on my Bimmer and the fact that this car is WAY funner (and has a new exhaust) than my old Acura allows me to "miss" the Porsche a bit less this winter than last.
But alas, I still miss it. The inline 6 B58 engine is wonderful, but nothing beats the flat six on a warm day in my cabriolet....

I have had winter wheels and tires for all my Porsche sports cars except for my GT3. To little ground clearance so I tucked it in from November to April. But my 992S seems fine so far. Just had 5" of snow here and it drove like a champ. Pirelli winter scorpions on 19/20" factory wheels handled that snow fine and grip on ice is excellent. The summer tires (21" Goodyear F1) would be suicide. I stay off roads once salt is spread and until roads are cleared. That still leaves many clear but cold days for Porsche drives. I normally drive it to work about one or two days per week because I need the Jeep's larger cargo area for Costco runs!.

Went out today and shot up some epic 4-wheel rooster tails on the way to the post office. Did a bootlegger to get home. Who wouldn't want to drive all year?
Wow. I'm glad they didn't put anything important like an air intake nearby.

I would love to drive my C2S in the winter, but winter seems to avoid my winter tires. It was mid-upper 70's last week so I had the summers on, then put on the winters when the forecast called for 40's as highs, now it's inexplicably 60 degrees.. Yes, could drive it in the 40's with summers or in the 60's with winters - but neither are optimal. I guess I need to move.
