Default 4gts or targa 4 gts

Hi
I have a 992 C4S that I love, and I think that gts will be even more exciting
my dealer has both allocations that I can get
I love the targa look but when I drove the 991.2 version
I remember the wind noise/buffeting was annoying
Anyone can comment on the 992 version as compared to 991 in particular reference wind noise as I use these cars as daily
Tia

I cannot tell you from any firsthand knowledge so take this with the appropriate value. Most of the reviewers of the 992 Targa have found that the buffeting has been mostly addressed and is much better and no longer an issue. Of course, the best thing to do in a normal world is to take a ride in one. I would check the pre-owned inventory at all the dealership in a reasonable accessible radius from you. Alternatively, may be there is a member here that can help or a PCA event you can attend.

the extra wind noise is something you can get used to, in my experience. I have owned a 991.2 and now a 992 Targa and both are excessive rattle traps due to the extra hardware in and under the rear glass. I would be ready to face that if you want a Targa, but I will be going coupe from now on.

Unless the trade is sufficient I'd keep what you have. Given the two choices the Targa is not even on my list . The 4GTS would be my choice.

I did just that, traded my C4S manual for my 992 Targa 4s Manual (allocation) and just had it delivered a few weeks ago. I can say, you cannot go wrong with either, but I am a huge targa fan. The looks and nostalgia for me was too much to ingnore. My first porsche back in 1990 was a 1978 911 Targa SC, and of all the porsche 911s I have had, I missed that the most. It is slower, heavier and not as practical. But I think the best looking...

YMMV - but I love the targa. I have had a few GTS 911's, and they are awesome, but you do not buy the Targa for performance, I save that for other cars (or get a GT3). I love the targas!

We have had both a 991.2 and now have a 992.1 Targa. I can’t say we’ve had the experience of some others with rattles as both our Targa cars have been quiet that way…particularly the 992. I too thought I wanted a GTS - particularly because I wanted the car with SPASM (10mm lowered) - and they don’t offer that I understand now anyway. In the end, put every performance option with extended leather and Burmester on the 992 and installed Techart HAS and now have the perfect Targa for us….much like Richard Wallace..old school. I like the GTS concept too but not necessarily on a Targa given it’s Touring ethos. My wife is the primary driver of the car and in town wind never an issue….on the highway, she prefers windows up when the top is down and if you put the new deflector up with one of the windows a hair lower than the other…wind isn’t an issue…but the styling on that car is what we love about it most. Good luck in your deliberations but this is a fun game when played there are really no wrong answers.

thanks for all the replies
I don't have to do the switch , but my philosophy for the past 15 years or so is to try as many cars as possible and experience for myself what each car has to offer
I have done that within a brand and across multiple other brands and have zero regrets
I have a 992 GT3 coming and 992GT3RS after that and that is following the same philosophy
again my only concern with the Targa is the wind noise in particular I drive 35 miles each way to work , and my morning drive is at 5:30 am where everything around is quiet.

Nice on the GT3 and GT3RS! I have a Targa GTS coming in March but am also looking to get a GT3. Given your history I’m guessing I am paying much more ADM than you though on the GT3 haha.
