This might be interesting to some folks. I'm working on my suspension and put in a GoPro in the wheel well. You can see the PDCC doing its thing.

Believe it or not, I think if I had to re-spec my car, I might leave RWS off. Not sure if it is responsible (or helps) the front tires "skitch" when pulling out or backing out, but man, that still drives me nuts - and yes, while I'm sure it helps with the turns, I can't stop but constantly wonder "would the car feel more "natural" without this RWS option?"

Every 911 I have ever had did what you describe with the front tires "skitching" when pulling out or backing out. The ones with no RAS seem to do it worse, but they all have done it.

Fwiw. My c2s with ras, fal, pasm-s, and newer PZeros on the rear (1k miles) rides very nice. So much so that I now drive exclusively with the pasm-s in Sports setting and only turn it off to see if the ride is actually any smoother on the straights which I often cannot. I would probably get it again - but I will likely not keep the car out of warranty (original or extended). If/when I want to try something with less tech - I’ll likely find a 993.

For what it's worth, PDCC is not even an available option on GT cars.

So take that for what it's worth.

PDCC wouldn’t make a lot of sense on a GT3/4. Porsche can spec stiff sway bars on the GT cars and be done with it. Ride quality on rough roads is not a priority.

I’ll throw in another disadvantage - if you plan on lowering your car from stock, PDCC adds a significant layer of complexity to that modification.

I opted for PDCC for my C2S which will be a DD and track car. I believe PDCC should provide both a comfort and performance advantage over a passive system. Also the Porsche promotional PDCC video showed a small time savings around their test track with PDCC using stock street tires. I’m hoping this advantage will become more substantial with grippier tires such as Goodyear F1 SuperCar 3Rs, and finally the primary reason I selected PDCC is there was too much roll in my Base M4 with R-compound tires, and wanted to make sure this will never be the case with the C2S.

This is the translated text from the AM&S Supertest article that eventually swayed me away from PDCC:

Cause research, point 2: In the absolute limit range, the PDCC roll assistant filters out almost all bumps in the Nordschleife. You have the feeling that you are floating over the Nordschleife on a hovercraft. As a result, the feedback not only appears somewhat synthetic and slightly decoupled, it also leads to unforeseen vehicle reactions. The Turbo S never really signals to its driver on the Nordschleife that the limit area has been reached. And once the limit has been reached, this 911 handling suddenly becomes pointy.

For example at the beginning of the Nordschleife, on the undulating passage after the fast Hatzenbachbogen and before the Hatzenbach alternating curves. Normally, the movements of a vehicle's body on these bumps signal at some point that it is high time to take your foot off the accelerator and apply the brakes. The Turbo S initially gives you a false sense of security with little body movements - and if you miss the right braking point just a tad, it suddenly forces you on the brakes in a brutal manner. You have to prepare for a sudden offset in the Turbo S on the wave running across the slope in front of the fast Metzgesfeld-Links.

Unfortunately in this day and time it’s not possible to drive one with and without to compare. My 992 C2S didn’t have it nor did it have RAS and I thought it handled great.

I struggle to leave the performance options off the GTS. I don’t know still torn. Keep the info coming!

I left PDCC off my build after feeling slightly worried at the potential unnatural feel. I did test drive a Carrera with and without and on normal roads around me (autobahn also) I could not really tell a difference so I opted to spend the money elsewhere (RWS)

I guess everyone will have different opinions - these were my observations and I hope I’ve made the right decision. I’ll find out in March/April.

I had RWS, PDCC and SPASM in my 2019 GTS. For my 2021 Carrera S, I just went with SPASM. I don’t miss the PDCC or the RWS at all. Like even a little bit. The car has no body roll to speak of. The new SPASM dampers are pretty trick on their own. This car is supple in Normal and Sport, but still corners amazingly well, and is no more jarring in Sport+ setting without PDCC than my GTS was with PDCC, and corners just as well if not better. If you plan to track the car, I think mainly where you might benefit from PDCC is if you still need work/finesse with your inputs

New to Porsche, new to tracking. So take this not even close to having any expertise opinion fwiw. PDCC is on my build and here's why:
Bought 21' Cayman GTS 4.0 in February 21'. From the moment I got behind the wheel, knew I wanted to learn to drive it as they are meant to be driven. So, attended Porsche Performance Driving 2 day experience at Barber Motorsports in July. Returned in Sept for 2 day Masters follow up. Cars are predominantly C2S. Cars have RWS and PDCC.
Have tracked my Cayman at HPDE's at Waterford Hills, Sebring, PBIR. Novice, green run group, so again, far from an expert. I prefer the 911 to the Cayman. The cars at Porsche Performance have RWS and PDCC, so mine is spec'd with both. The 911's at Barber have as much or more seat and wheel feedback compared to the Cayman. You can feel the track, you can feel the changing car dynamics under acceleration, braking, cornering. Would it be the same as a Pro driver in a GT car, hell no! Is it a Hovercraft, hell no! The media are always looking for an angle to get eyeball time.
Also spec'd PCCB's which are a no no for track use according to most experienced track guys on here. I know stopping distance is equal for iron's as ceramic's. Under foot, I prefer the initial bite and modulation of ceramic's. Prolly could achieve the same feel with the correct set of track pads for irons, but not willing to live with track pads on the street, which will be 90% plus.

First Porsche coming from a 2015 M4. Had the opportunity to track my PDCC C2S with Goodyear Supercar3 tires, and Ferodo DS3.12 brakes. The car was amazing in so many ways. Since this is my first time tracking a rear engine car didn’t push it too hard, but still managed a better time than my M4. There’s a lot of potential in this car. Didn’t notice any downsides of PDCC on this day, and this track, but did get a comment from a guy following me who noticed my car stays perfectly flat in turns. Hoping this will translate to improved tire wear. A tire temp check was pretty even, but didn’t get off the track fast enough for an accurate measurement. This car is so much easier to drive fast compared to my M4 it almost feels like cheating. If you’ll be tracking I would consider getting PDCC.

PDCC is certainly not a must-have. That said, I have it. But, I regularly track my car. If your car is mostly a city/highway car, you can likely move on and save the money or put
it towards another option.

I have a Targa GTS on order and am still struggling with both the PDCC and FAL debates.

I won’t be tracking the car but with everything I’ve read with the higher center of gravity PDCC actually could make a lot of sense for spirited driving. Would love to know what other 992 Targa owners think (but realize these questions always boil down to personal preference).

As for FAL - being in NYC I think it makes sense but that being said - the Targa doesn’t have SPASM so perhaps that is also just unnecessary…

These two options combined though add up quickly…
