I have placed an order for GTS in Gentian blue and now I noticed in some pictures that GB has shades of purple. Is that accurate as I just cannot stand any purple even in shade?
I had 2 GT silvers and was pretty happy with it. Any thoughts on Dolomite Silver or Shark Blue?
I have also ordered GB on my GTS. I have an aventurine green cab now and wanted something different. From what I have seen from pictures it’s largely different shades of blue. Here is a link to some pictures that I think you are referring to. In my view this is not natural light so it does look purplish in a studio. Maybe GB owners can chime in. https://www.edmunds.com/porsche/911/...31/?radius=200
Almost all dark blues can have purple hues in select lighting - Chevrolet used to have a similar color on C6 Corvettes called LeMans blue that was the same way. I didn't mind it and actually liked it. You asked for opinions on Dolomite Silver and Shark Blue (I currently have GT Silver and LOVE the warm/bronze tones in it):
Dolomite Silver - too "cold" in appearance.
Shark Blue - a bit juvenile. Fun for a week / month / maybe a year and then I think I'd be "wow, why did I purchase this color when I could have had GT Silver for less".
Your views may vary.......

Yes, under some conditions the paint will take on a purple tone. I, like you, do not like purple, but Gentian Blue is the exception IMHO and wouldn't change the color if I could.

In a word..... yes! The sun has to hit the paint surface at a very specific angle to show off it's purple hues.
Gentian is a chameleon colour with tons of character. It's part of the charm and why I love it on my Smurf!
When I was at the dealer ordering my 911 I pulled up next to a Gentian Blue Taycan in my Navarra Blue Audi Q7. I think the GB is a little more purple. I went with the GB.
It has a purple hue to it for sure. I was actually at the dealership today getting a sneak peek at my new C4S, and I commented to my wife how purple-y it looked parked in the shade.
Any thoughts on choosing a blue vs black roof in a GTS cab with gentian. I went with blue after much thought but still open to views as I have some time before the build locks. Thanks

The purple was the deal breaker for me . It can look gorgeous when its NOT purple though. The other factor is that I don't feel its the ideal color for black wheels . I actually think white is but I have had 12 straight years of white 911's . Gt silver is what I feel is the best 992 color . Thats just personal opinion. It shows the cuts in the hood as well as blends the black plastic (which I dislike) on the tailpipes . It contrasts the bulb like rear beautifully and its the only timeless metallic color . Every other color was extensively considered with some placing higher than others . I even had a staggered build in each color with higher builds in colors that I felt I could commit to . It came down to white Vs Gt. Gt won but only due to my white car history. Good luck !
Almost all dark blues will show some amount of purple under certain lighting conditions. 1Gunner’s photos show how artificial light (probably fairly high Kelvin temp halogen or LED lighting) can reveal purple in Gentian Blue. Attached photos show GB on a bright sunny day in south Florida in mid-afternoon. Paints also feed off the reflections of their immediate surroundings to “change” color. If you can’t stand any hint of purple best to find another color.
Thank you everyone for the great feedback! I think I will get 3rd GT Silver (not sure why Porsche killed Night Blue option). Metallic black is great too but then I would be going crazy cleaning it

A lady in my town owns a 992 in Night Blue Metallic. It is so dark it almost looks black, when she first got it I thought it was black until I had the chance to take a close look at it, so you if you got that color you would be cleaning it the same as a black car.
