Default New 992 and window noise and time bomb ticking?

I just got my 2022 992..i hear alot of whistling at higher speeds through the drivers window..

i've seen a lot of older posts on window wind whistling noise on the driver side over 50mph...no one really has posted any follow ups on how it was corrected and wondering if anyone has any updates. Mine seems to be from the side mirror when I open the window and put my hand around that area while driving.

Another quirk i noticed on my car is when i open the door i start hearing alot of ticking noises like a loud analog clock coming from underneath the armrest and sometimes from the drivers door near the memory buttons... all disappears when I start the car and shut it off.

Anyone have similar noises?

If you open the drivers window, opening the passenger window as well will reduce wind noise. If it still bothers you, there is a little spoiler triangle that fits up by the mirror that reduces it more dramatically.

911s make a lot of mechanical noises when they are running. It’s part of the character. You will hear more of the noises with the window open.

When I first got my S, I noticed all kinds of strange noises as I approached and it unlocked the car, and then after I ran and turned the car off, My BMW also makes similar sorts of noises. I was worried at first, but months (Porsche) and years later (BMW) nothing has broken…so in your case, some of the noises might be normal.

I don’t have any wind whistling noises, however.

I have had 4 911s in the past with all kinds of noises....this whistling noise is new and annoying.....and I hear it thru closed windows. Just on the drivers side to clarify.

Just a guess but try to re-calibrate the driver's window full-closed position. I believe there are instructions in the manual.

I think this is what you’re referring to:

https://www.awe-tuning.com/awe-foile...er-porsche-992

I have them, easy 10 minute install and they work well.

Was there any fix for this low wind whistling noise within the cabin when driving above 45mph?

To clarify, this is not wind buffeting which the AWE Foiler Wind Diffuser fixes. This is a persisted annoying whistle inside when the window is closed even when the interior vents are switched off also.

FYI - I have the standard bumpers and PPF applied all over the car, but this was always there before PPF was applied so PPF cannot be blamed from what I read in other threads.

I drove with the mirrors folded and some of the whistling from the left side fade at 70mph.so could be that...I still have generalized low whistle at 40-50mph coming from the front..who knows.

Annoying, did you contact your OPC about it? Seems it’s common issue this low whistle noise… 🤦🏻‍♂️

I have a 2022 C2S Cab and the same whistle above speeds of 50 mph. I am certain it comes from the driver’s side mirror. I will mention it when I bring the car in for service but I am doubtful of any fix.

Pretty sure its the mirrors...is suspect they did the initial testing with Euro mirrors and had to place our fatter North American mirrors on therafter.

Mirrors are the same size both sides of the pond. I have a non-US reflector in my drivers side, fits perfectly.

I had the same. Removed PPF from mirrors and it went away. I read posts on the 991.2 forums that some members who had PPF induced mirror whistle which went away after removal and so I thought what does it hurt to remove it. Problem solved in my case.

In the older 997 someone found the wistling to be the gap between the top and bottom of the mirror housing. That little horizontal line will catch air and cause a whistle. I remember a guy removing the side mirror and placing a little layer of double sided tape on the inside of the seam and problem solved. I don't know much about the 992 mirrors but I'm sure there's seams in the shell where the plastics meet. Put masking tape over the back of the shell and drive, I bet that gets a step closer to solving.

Some current Mercedes have that, the cause is gaps in the mirror housing allowing wind to flow through. Like that guy the fix is to open up the mirror housing and fill the gaps with MMM self adhesive tape. Seriously, there’s a bulletin about it.
