Example of this thread’s discussion point spotted on Instagram! This one has the racetex interior with deviated stitching and the headrest is lizard green to match.

That's what we needed. Open the floodgates and place your orders!

PS: I reached out to Porsche direct earlier....waiting for a reply.

Nice re stitching. I really dislike the seat centers in alcantara, though. Even in this pic it looks somewhat lousy. Leather for me.

in all seriousness, is there any material cost to porsche when people customize their thread color, etc? could there be some impact to the manufacturing efficiency that we're not considering? or is it really just a cash grab because they can?

EDIT: considering they swap colors in and out, such as just having moved night blue metallic to pts which now costs 12k, i think it's mostly the cash grab thing.
Having worked as a procurement consultant many years ago for VAG, I safely say that customisable items (from 3rd parties in particular) cost literally zero extra. Those coloured seatbelts, the black brake callipers, the gloss window trims, the coloured engine slats, coloured chrono dials, etc.. all cost Porsche nothing extra in materials. The argument could be made that changes on the production line have some additional impact. But not £600 for different coloured callipers impact.

Can anyone please share some pics of GT Silver and Guards Red deviated stitching?

I need to decide soon on whether to add one of those colors or keep the standard #3 monochrome black race-tex and leather with black GTS and dark gray stitching.

(I’ve decided not to going for the chalk or carmine red GTS packages, mainly because I don’t like the matching seat belts and overpriced carbon trim.)

Its not like they are already using a different color thread for the rest of the stitching.

I own a store that sells high-end leather upholstery. When a customer wants deviated or contrast stitching we charge exactly.....NOTHING. $ 0.00. Just request it and it's yours; The ladies that sew the leather in the North Carolina factories say "Well Honey, why would we charge for that? It takes me all of 20 seconds to swap out a bobbin in the machine, I wouldn't feel right asking someone to pay me to do that, its not like different color thread costs more."
AMEN!
