The ‘22 PCM instantly boots. No more waiting around for the damn thing to load up so you can close the garage in the morning. If you map Homelink to the dash button, it immediately activates the signal - no different than the old mirror button. The GPS thing works as well, though that was never a problem. I no longer need a garage remote. 🎉🎉🎉
Gotcha. So the button sends a signal without having to confirm it again on the PCM. Great success!
Yep! Press the button and the door operates. It's a miracle!

I think the problem is that the new PCM requires updated hardware. They installed new, faster RAM for the '22. It's funny that they need advanced hardware and an entirely new OS to make a garage door button work, but that's German engineering for you.

The new interface is much less customizable that the old one. No more tiles. Just three customizable sub-screens (in my case: phone, media, nav). They kept it much simpler, which is probably best at the end of the day.
Did Porsche implement an overlay when the reverse camera is active? So you can press the Homelink button without shifting out of reverse?
I’ll check tomorrow. The button opens the door without having to mess with the screen and it opens the door while in reverse, so I haven’t paid much attention. That’s the best part - you don’t have to interface with the screen to open and close the door.

Per recommendations here, I press the unlock button on my key fob about a minute before I get in my ‘21 C2S. By the time I get in my car and start it up, the homelink, start/stop, etc are ready to go.

That was my routine on my '20. I mean it's not the end of the world. I ended up using the garage remote because I was always forgetting to hit the fob in advance.
