I know there are numerous posts regarding the choice of Matrix headlamps on our builds. Now that NHSTA has given approval for adaptive headlamps in the US, would you now want to include them in your build? https://www.nydailynews.com/autos/ne...r%20headlights.
quote from the link: "While Audi, BMW, Toyota, and more already have the technology, don't expect to see it on U.S. roads until at least a few years down the line, as the headlights will still have to go through testing to be approved, and it will take some time to fit them to U.S. production-spec vehicles."
Since I keep my cars a long time, I would order these now as long as they could be activated when finally approved for use in the states.

Its insane the NHSTA will not allow adaptive headlights until extensive review, but has no problems with beta testing Teslas FSD software by the public on public roads with zero review.

Seeing some issues with 10.3, so rolling back to 10.2 temporarily, Musk wrote. Please note, this is to be expected with beta software. It is impossible to test all hardware configs in all conditions with internal QA, hence public beta.

Well, the headline and body of the article faked me out. I have tried to find more information by visiting the NHTSA website, but I couldn't find any news about their decision, (or lack of one). Is this just an approval in principle? So I wonder if we are still in the dark, so to speak? https://www.nydailynews.com/autos/ne...r%20headlights
There is no guarantee that the matrix headlight functionality on existing 992s can be enabled in a fashion that satisfies the regulatory framework put forth by the NHSTA. Porsche continues to state directly that the matrix functionality is not enabled on US market cars. They do not imply any sort of commitment to enable the functionality in the future.
If you like the matrix aesthetics, go for it. I would not purchase matrix headlights with the hope that they’ll somehow be updated to be fully functional in the US.
I don’t get it? Is it a volume thing that coders haven’t bothered to “unlock” some of these capabilities that exist in Europe?
No idea sorry. I bought this GLE off the lot and it has the matrix option but disabled in the US. Quick bit of research and I find someone who can enable that plus speed sign display, and even adaptive cruise.
