I was an early adopter and bought an Audi E-Tron, drove it for 15 months. It's nice, but oh-so-heavy as are all electric cars. The makers try to overcome this by adding power and bigger brakes, but weight is weight, and you can't fight physics. I finally sold it and have never missed it, Plus the range sucked @ 200 miles, and unless your idea of a good time is sitting in a Wal Mart parking lot for 20 minutes charging, its useless as a trip vehicle. Note that Porsche has steadfastly insisted the 911 will never be all electric, and that's because it won't be the same car, and also far too heavy. I think time will see the weight come out of electric cars and also improved charging areas + range, but its not there yet.

These are two very different cars . I have not driven a Taycan but have seen repeated claims by people I respect enough to want to drive one . It's the type of car I might look at if replacing a Macan but not a 911 . See if 5-10K gets your old car back . Every mile driven on a car a person wants its losing value . Cut the loss immediately .

At the moment, driving an electric car is a political statement. It certainly doesn't do anything good for the environment. Truth-be-told, they're only for sale to the public because of governmental interference with the free market driven by politicians who know little or nothing about science.
Without this significant government intrusion, only Al Gore and the Prince of Wales would own an EV.
Someday we may be forced to drive electric vehicles out of necessity, but for now they are on the roads because of politicians, not because of economics or science.

I see you allready have a Tesla Model S, so 1 EV is more than enough for now. Buy as fast as possible a 992!
I have the luck to drive a Tesla Model S during the weeks, and a 992 Carrera S in the weekends.

Had a Taycan 4S as a loaner for two days while my 992 was in for service. Great loaner, but loved getting my C2S back afterward. See if you can get an allocation for another 992. I’m confident that you can swing the difference in price. The average 911 buyer makes $600k a year. Eat the $5k-$10k and deal with it. As Worm said, it’s only money.
Where did you get that tosh from? Have you not read the stories on here about guys who have saved all their lives to buy the car of their dreams?

Hi guys,
I hope you can give me good advice. I traded in my 992 CS for a Taycan 4s.
Because of all the discussions about the climate crisis, I changed my mind about the 992 and thought that the Taycan is a very good alternative
Due to a recall for the Taycan, because of a flat battery/car while driving , I wanted to cancel the order but had to pay 5000 euros to the dealer.
After only having driven 500 km, I miss the 911 enormously. It's really nothing but my wife's Model S in a Porsche jacket.
what should I do?
ask the dealer if I can get my old 911 back? Order a new 992 and trade in the Taycan or take my loss and keep driving the Taycan for a bit longer?
I hadn't realized that owning a 911 is much more special than owning a Taycan.
So anyone who has doubts about going electric... Don't do it!!![Frown](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)

As for saying don't do it? I'm looking forward to my Taycan Turbo S to share daily driver duty with my other cars. One just has to be thoughtful of what is expected of the car. Not sure how one could expect Taycan to feel like a 911. If that was the case, I would not keep my Lusso with my Taycan.

It’s no Taycan, but I love my Tesla Model 3 (one step up from a. base model—dual motor). As a commuting appliance.
I am sure the Taycan is a driver’s car, but there’s no way a 911 and a Taycan should be considered competitors, regardless of performance numbers.
I’d seriously consider a Taycan when I get rid of the Tesla, but a Taycan would never enter my thoughts if I was going to get rid of the 992.

Just saw the SavageGeese review of the new Macan S, and Porsche claims the average Macan buyer makes north of $400k per year.

Median would be a more useful metric. I've heard it's in the $300-400k range for 911 owners, which makes sense.

Lots of 911 owners are worth millions but have very little (reportable) income.

You do your homework and invest your savings into high return instruments. That’s how you get the cash. Pick the right stocks and get twenty times the returns of your savings. Sometimes thirty.

Of course pick the "right" stock which can land you on food stamps or behind the wheel of a Porsche; but sometimes, like Vegas or black swans, it works...
