When I was at the service counter today dropping off my 992 C4S for the 30k mile service, the service manager told me of customer with a 2009 911 with only 9k miles that needed the transmission replaced. The worst thing that you can do is to let these cars sit. They will literally rot in place. Drive your cars.

A car in motion tends to stay in motion. A car at rest tends to stay at rest.

My car is 7 months old
a 2021 992 cab just turned over 15000 miles
why spend that much money on a car and not drive it?
it’s not an investment, it’s a car!

Every day is a school day! I wish I had known this 18 months ago. My RRS has been sat doing nothing and now a couple of injectors are misbehaving. Had I used this they would be fine.

Thank you, I'm off to buy some.

If one is considering a 911 as a second car, what does Porsche recommend as the weekly usage in miles?

Does anyone know how often per week you have to drive a 911 to avoid the battery dying? Currently have a M2 CS as a daily and looking to get some 911 variant as a 2nd car.

I think once a week is certainly enough. Given that that "once a week" drive is an actual drive, and not just putting around the block. (And, yes, this is without having the car on a battery tender.)

There are horror stories here of how some people are left with dead batteries with having the car sit just a couple of days. Not to speak for those owners, but I really feel like those are outliers as opposed to the norm.

+1

Once a week is enough. Just drive it for at least 20-30 minutes. I had to do this when my windshield was cracked and the replacement from Germany took almost 3 months. No issues.

I don’t think it is a bright line test. My 7 year old M5 has just over 50K on the clock. I use it to get to the train station during the week and more miles during non-winter weekends. But I drive it enough each way to the station (about 2 miles) to get it up to full operating temp each time.

When I had mine replaced on my RRS, the fitter said it takes 15 minutes of running to fully charge the battery.
