I wash my 992 by hand and find it very therapeutic. I have a ceramic coat and of. You really need a maintenance product after washing and I highly recommend Polish Angel Cosmic Spritz. Esoteric is the exclusive distributor of this product. I see they are a site sponsor so I take it it is okay to mention there name but I my opinion they have the best car care products.
My personal car, a 981 Agate Gray Cayman w full PPF, gets the PA High Gloss as it accentuates the somewhat subdued color a bit more than the deeper shine of Cosmic but w Polish Angel, it's really an embarrassment of riches.

I'm starting to feel the same way, and have told my SA today that I will find my own PPF/ceramic coating specialist.
Salesman are really good at making you "feel bad" and splurging on unnecessary things. I need to constantly remind myself that I'm ALREADY handing them thousands of dollars. However much of a cut they get is not my issue, I've done enough for this goddamn economy.

I live in Vancouver myself, and would definitely be a lot pickier if it's someone I'll be dealing with on a long term basis.
That's also why I'm telling my dad to move over here when he retires next year, so I don't have to keep flying back for the holidays!

Been doing my own Ceramic coating for years. Better results/better chemistry and easier applications have been greatly improved over the years. Simple prep and a few hours can save you literally $thousands….but that is just me. Lots of great detailing videos on YouTube. My fave is “Pan the Organizer” ( Canada ) who just took delivery of a 992 AV Green Turbo S….

Never take any car to a car wash that uses brushes unless you want scratch and swirl marks on it. The touchless are better but if they have people that use towels to dry it then again you are going to get swirls. If they drop their drying towel on the ground they pick it up and use again. Any dirt or sand on the ground then gets rubbed on your car. I live in a condo and thus cannot wash in the garage so I take it a do it your self high pressure spray wand place and wash it myself. If it has dirt stuck on it then I use the two bucket wash system and then spray it off with the high pressure spray. I bought a leaf blower and dry it o, which does much better than hand drying with towel. On my last car I used towels but when I got home water had dripped from all crevices in the car and there would be water spots everywhere so I had to go over it again., With the leaf blower all that water is blown away. If I had a garage or available electrical outputs then I would use one of the made for car air blowers to dry it. The leaf blower is big and you have to recharge the battery but still better than towels.

This is why I will never again own a black car. I LOVE black, but am way too OCD to own a black car again. Black paint has zero forgiveness and swirls are lurking around every corner. Silvers and greys (and I hope Chalk) a bit less so.
