How are the allocations for GTS s. I know everything is tight right now, but are they available? Are dealers asking overs? Or are they treating them similar to GT3 allocations?

I placed an order for a GTS cab 1 month ago at MSRP. SA said no one knows how long the wait will be but the dealer management recommended telling customers 9 mos. Personally I would not be surprised if its a year or longer.

according to my sa, early deliveries will have begun by 2q. that's the current unofficial word, anyway.

Are you in the US? If so I'm not sure how you have an order... Every dealer I've spoken to or heard about has said they have not received GTS allocations yet.

Paying a deposit to stand in line - that could be dozens or more deep in orders ahead of you. I don't think I'd do that without written assurances that looked realistic to ever receive a vehicle.

if you have an existing relationship with a dealer/sa, as many do, one can do without written assurances. this is one good reason not to try to squeeze every drop out of a deal, and make a relationship.

I have ordered many new cars over the years. This will be the 4th Porsche I have ordered/purchased new through this salesman/dealer over the past 25 years. I trust him due to my long relationship. There are not "dozens ahead of me". Paying a deposit, which is fully refundable, is the only way to get a new car these days. I have had $10K down on a new Ferrari since last October. It is suppose to come in Q1. Probably going to flip that one. You don't have to "pay a deposit to stand in line", but you won't get a new car unless you do. Or you can pay someone that has a car coming for their allocation. I'd sell my Ferrari Roma allocation for $40K.

I placed a deposit for a Targa GTS back in July and will be purchasing at MSRP. I was number 3 on the list at that time which I'm sure has grown since then. I was assured an allocation which I just confirmed today but also told not to expect delivery until second qtr. 2022. My SA also indicated expecting allocation numbers some time next month and will the lock in a order then. From start to finish will wind up being a long 9-10 month wait but already looking forward to next spring!

Without a signed Purchase Order and a deposit, aren't you just a name on a list? I feel my position is more likely to result in an allocation than if I just had my name on the salesman's list. In any event, this isn't a big deal to me and I am 100% sure I can get my deposit back at any time.

Wrong. You can have an order without having an allocation. It's called a Demand Order and in Porsche speak you are in V070 status once you have a Demand Order. Once you have an Allocation your Demand Order goes to V200 status. In most all cases, the Demand Order requires a deposit which is usually non-refundable. I have a Demand Order, with a deposit and a specific performance contract at MSRP with the dealer for a MY22 car. That is an order and more importantly, a contract.
