Team - i am about to order my first set of winters for my 992. I am in Chicago so we get more cold than snow.
Any thoughts or existing threads would be great. Daily Drive - so not tracking a car....at least not when it's 15 degree out. Thanks

I have the 19/20 Winter Set that I swap out from my 20/21 summers. My winters came with the Continental Winter Contacts. I have never had Continental Winters before (but that is what came with the 19/20s I ordered). I have had Michelin most of my other cars.
I have to say, was really impressed with the Conti's - no issues, ridiculous winter handling in snow, wet, etc. etc. I would put them on par (from memory) with the Alpins I have had in the past.

I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the Continental Winter Contact. It’s an excellent cold weather performance tire. I’m going to try out the Alpin’s for next winter as I should finish off the Continentals this winter.

Living in Buffalo nearly my entire life and a firm believer in winter tires I've been using Bridgestone Blizzaks with great success on my BMW's, Acuras, Jeeps and my Mazda CX-9. Great traction and relatively quiet. I don't know what size you'd order and wonder if you can put a cheaper set of wheels on a 911 for the winter with tires on them already.

Where are you all getting your winter tire & wheel sets? I've historically gotten mine from TireRack but this is my first 911. I've been tracking TireRack and recently had a "chat" exchange with one of their reps. They don't have any winter tires for the 992 yet, and he said they'll probably only have the 20"/21" combo (not 19"/20"). I would prefer the 19/20 for sidewall height in snow & slush.

I got my tires/wheels from one of our vendors (suncoast). Take a look - I got the 19//20s so I could have more side wall in the winter, as opposed to my 20/21 summers. Went with the basic set was around 4400 delivered.
Please note - if you have PCCBs you have to stay with the 20/21s, the 19/20s will not fit with the Ceramic Breaks.

Last year there were few winter tire wheel and tire combos available. I ended up with OZ wheels and Continental tires in 20/21. I was very pleased with the setup and found there was plenty of sidewall. Surprisingly, with incentives, this was cheaper than the available 19/20 inch setups available at the time. I used mostly Alpins in the past but have no issues with the Continentals.

I received the new Pirelli Pzero Winters on my OE 19/20 winter wheels. I've left two reviews on Tire Rack that detail the tire's characteristics. The bottom line is they are an excellent winter tire, although uncharacteristically for a softer winter compound on a smaller wheel, they ride just a tad harder than my Goodyear F1 summer tires on 20/21 wheels.
